    摘要: A performance monitor for generating a digital error signal based upon an RF input signal and an amplified RF output signal is provided. The monitor includes: a first analog-to-digital converter operable to digitize an in-phase (I) and a quadrature-phase (Q) version of the RF input signal responsive to a first clock signal to provide a first digital I signal and a first digital Q signal; a second analog-to-digital converter operable to digitize an in-phase (I) and a quadrature-phase version of the amplified RF output signal responsive to a second clock signal to provide a second digital I signal and a second digital Q signal; a first adaptive delay filter to delay the first digital I signal and the first digital Q signal to provide a first delayed complex signal according to a first delay; a second adaptive filter to delay the second digital I signal and the second digital Q signals to provide a second delayed complex signal according to a second delay; a complex gain matching adder operable to add a complex gain matching factor to a selected one of the delayed complex signals to provide a gain matched complex signal; and an adder to add the gain matched complex signal to a remaining one of the first and second delayed complex signals to provide the digital error signal.

In a wireless communication system in which multiplex communication is possible between multiple UE1, UE2, and BS, a channel estimation and precoding selection unit 539 in BS estimates channels from the respective UE1, UE2 to the BS, determines a precoding matrix P from a projection matrix to make the two channel response matrices orthogonal or nearly orthogonal, and feeds back the precoding matrix P to UE2, and executes precoding on only UE2 of the two. A precoding unit 524 in the UE2 employs the precoding matrix P that has been notified to perform precoding of a data stream, and sends the precoded data stream to the BS.

    摘要: A multi-wavelength optical signal copropagates through a fiber-optic communication link with a continuous-wave ancillary wavelength having an unknown state of polarization (SOP), which is scrambled periodically in time. The instantaneous value of polarization dependent loss (PDL) in the ancillary wavelength is monitored in real time, and is used as an error signal to adjust at least one polarization controller. Polarization scrambling is performed by periodically changing the SOP with time, such that the polarization-scrambled optical signal covers approximately an entire Poincaré sphere surface, preferably uniformly, during each time period. At an optical node between fibers, an adjustable PDL compensator contains two ordered pairs each consisting of one polarization controller and one optical element introducing fixed PDL.
