A method of preparing a toner is provided, including: preparing a core by mixing a polyester resin and a colorant with a macromonomer including a hydrophilic group, a hydrophobic group, and one or more reactive functional groups, and a nonionic reactive emulsifier; and preparing a shell by polymerizing the exterior surface of the core using one or more polymerizable monomers and an initiator, wherein the macromonomer and the nonionic reactive emulsifier participate in the polymerization. A toner is prepared using the method. An image forming method and an image forming apparatus are provided that use the toner. Using the method, the image forming apparatus can print high quality images at high speed at a low temperature since the core of toner has superior fixability at a low temperature and superior image properties and the shell of toner has superior durability and superior charging properties. Also, using the nonionic reactive emulsifier, stable toner particles having desired sizes are prepared.

According to embodiments of the present invention, the toner organosol rarely affects the physical properties required of the liquid toner, and an offset error in a fixing operation is removed, resulting in an improved quality of a printed image.

A hybrid toner and a method of preparing the toner are provided. The hybrid toner is of a core-shell type, and as such the storage characteristics of the toner are improved and a toner blocking phenomenon and image contamination that are caused by dispersion of waxes or colorants onto the surface of the outer layer of toner particles are prevented. A toner prepared by the method, a method of forming an image using the toner, and an image forming device employing the toner, are also provided. According to the method, a colorant dispersion of a colorant dispersed in a plurality of reactive emulsifiers is used to easily control the particle size and shape of the toner particles, obtain a high resolution image having excellent offset resistance, and provide frictional charging properties and storage stability. A toner exhibiting excellent properties in a high humidity environment can be prepared.

A shell is formed on the core by polymerizing the exterior surface of the core with one or more polymerizable monomers and an initiator, wherein at least one material selected from the group consisting of the macromonomer and the reactive emulsifying agent participate in the polymerization reaction. Also, provided are a toner prepared using the method, an image forming method using the toner, and an image forming apparatus employing the toner. According to the method, a polyester resin, having superior fixability at low temperature and image properties, is used as a core composition and styrene, having superior maintenance and charging properties, is used as a shell composition in the process of manufacturing a core/shell structure to prepare the toner for the image forming apparatus having fast speed and fixability of high quality images at low temperature. In addition, by not using the reactive emulsifying agent, the cleaning process is minimized, and the amounts of polluted water and waste water are decreased, which is very advantageous environmentally.
