摘要： A broadband residential gateway (BRG) management system (101) has a communications interface (102) coupled to one or more BRGs 120 and one or more content service providers (CSPs) (110), a memory (104), and a processor (106). The processor can be programmed to establish (202) a content profile for each of the BRGs according to one or more attributes of the BRGs and the CSPs, receive (204) a content access request from one or more BRGs, and supply (206) each BRG access to selectable content from one or more of the CSPs according to the content profile.

摘要： Methods and apparatus to implement a partial mesh virtual private local area network service are disclosed. An example method to implement a partial mesh virtual private local area network service (VPLS) network disclosed herein comprises identifying a desired partial mesh topology of connections for interconnecting a plurality of provider edge devices comprising the VPLS network, and decomposing the partial mesh topology into a plurality of cliques, wherein each clique comprises a respective full mesh topology of connections for interconnecting a respective subset of the plurality of provider edge devices, and wherein a union of the plurality of cliques implements the desired partial mesh topology.

摘要： A wireless local area network (WLAN) control system includes network elements (such as access points and clients) and a centralized dynamic performance management system. The network elements measure signal attenuation in communications with other WLAN network elements. The dynamic performance management system receives signal attenuation data from the network elements, and determines a frequency and/or transmission power level for each of the network elements to reduce interference with the other WLAN network elements. The dynamic performance management system also transmits instructions to each network element to control the frequency and/or transmission power level of the network elements.

摘要： A method of operating a cellular telephone comprises presenting a user with an option of a first rule or a second rule, and accepting a selection of the first rule or the second rule. The first rule relates to a voice message, and the second rule relates to a text message. The method determines that reception is not sufficient to establish communication, and stores an address of an intended recipient. The method also stores the voice message if the first rule was selected or the text message if the second rule was selected. When reception is sufficient to establish communication, the stored message is sent to the address.

The method includes instructions for determining whether a deployed network is sufficient for supporting existing customer and future customer demands and generating an augmented network design if the deployed network is insufficient. The augmented network design includes new network nodes such that deployed network is a subset of the augmented network, thereby permitting augmenting of the deployed network without interruption services to the existing customers supported by the deployed network.
