Abstract:
A system for calibrating a production module having a production module transmitter, a production module receiver, a production module controller, a production module optical device driver, and at least one of a production module post-amplifier, a production module retimer, a production module equalizer and a production module wakeup function. The system comprises a calibrated reference module having a calibrated reference module transmitter, a calibrated reference module receiver, a calibrated reference module controller, a calibrated reference module optical device driver, at least one of a calibrated reference module post-amplifier, a calibrated reference module retimer, a calibrated reference module equalizer and a calibrated reference module wakeup function, wherein the calibrated reference module is calibrated using test equipment. The system uses the calibrated reference module to calibrate at least one of the calibrated reference module post-amplifier, the calibrated reference module retimer, the calibrated reference module equalizer and the calibrated reference module wakeup is function.
Abstract:
A Lifter Oil Manifold Assembly or LOMA has a metal deckplate with a non-metallic valve mount/stiffener having elastomeric seals on the surface contacting the deckplate. The electrically operated valves for controlling flow to individual valve lifters are mounted on bosses formed on the valve mount/stiffener. A bracket retains the valves on the valve mount/stiffener and the valve mount/stiffener on the deckplate when assembled on the engine by through bolts.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus is disclosed for reducing the error rate in a received signal by determining and establishing an optimal slice point for a decision device, or optimal operational parameters. In one embodiment, a processor monitors a received signal to determine signal characteristics, such as a peak signal level or phase value. A table look-up operation may occur in a data table or other processing may occur and, based on the signal characteristics, an optimal slice point may be determined. In one embodiment the look-up operation may also reveal one or more optimal operational parameters that, if adopted, will further reduce the error rate. A receiving station may communicate these optimal operational parameters to a transmitting station to modify operation of the transmitting station. Also disclosed is a method and apparatus for self-testing a communication system and channel to determine optimal slice points and operational parameters.
Abstract:
A pressure control device for an inkjet pen. The inkjet pen is provided with a reservoir having a first opening and maintaining a back pressure established therein. The pressure control device comprises a bag, a pressure plate, an isolation member, a bias member, and an elastic member. The bag, disposed inside the reservoir, communicates with outside the reservoir so as to expand inside the reservoir. The pressure plate is disposed inside the reservoir and adjacent to the bag so as to move inside the reservoir. The bias member is disposed inside the reservoir and adjacent to the pressure plate, the isolation member, and the reservoir respectively such that the bag expands to move the pressure plate when the back pressure inside the reservoir changes, then the pressure plate moves the bias member so that the isolation member separates from the first opening.
Abstract:
A cosmetic pencil and sharpener comprises a cap and pencil portion having a sharpened head on a first end portion of the pencil, an elongated body and a second end portion. The cap includes a recess at one end to engage and cover the pencil head, an intermediate portion and a second closed end portion. The intermediate portion includes a raised angular section located adjacent a longitudinal slot in the cap wall. A blade is mounted to the angular section and extends downwardly into the slot. Rotation of the pencil sharpens the head against the blade while shavings drop outwardly from the slot due to a self-cleaning chisel point protrusion on the cap.
Abstract:
The invention comprises a soda can lid which forms a seal with one's upper lip during thereby preventing spillage and eliminating residue. The raised platform area on the lid is connected to the pull-tab area with outwardly sloping walls designed to engage the lips. The platform area is slightly higher than the depth of a circular peripheral groove ranging up to slightly higher than the rim. The lid may also include seal portions extending upwardly from the platform on both sides of the depressed pull-tab area. The invention may be employed on lids either with or without a peripheral groove. Another feature of the invention is a pull-tab with an arch handle and special puncture tip for easier more comfortable use by consumers.
Abstract:
A display-type applicator-containing compact for cosmetics and the like, comprises a shallow jar having a wide neck portion with external screw threads, and a ring-shaped screw cap member that is mounted on and cooperable with the neck portion. The neck portion has an annular sealing lip, and a plastic lens member is disposed in the screw cap member to provide an underside sealing area that engages the sealing lip. A swivel-mounted tray adapted to hold cosmetic material is pivotally mounted in the jar in spaced relation to the jar bottom, providing sufficient space under the tray to store a puff or similar applicator. The underside of the tray is a mirror, for use when the tray is swung up out of the jar, and when the applicator is being used.
Abstract:
A container and sealing closure therefor, includes a container body part having an access opening and includes a continuous peripheral wall surrounding the access opening, and a closure part. The wall of the body part has a peripherally extending continuous sealing edge portion at its upper outer surface, the edge portion being coextensive with the wall. The closure part has a resilient skirt portion. The sealing edge portion of the wall of the container part has a sharp apex forming an included angle of substantially 90 degrees. The skirt portion of the closure part is adapted to mate in spaced relation, with the peripheral wall of the container part and has an inner surface which extends obliquely with respect to the peripheral wall of the body part and which is adapted to engage the apex. There are provided coengaging structural elements on the container body and closure parts, holding the resilient skirt portion of the closure part forcibly against the apex as the closure part is advanced against the container body part to a sealing, closed position thereon.
