Abstract:
A leakage current detection device includes a self-test pulse generating unit, for generating a pulsed triggering signal when the leakage current detection device is initially energized; a self-test unit, for periodically generating simulated leakage current signals, and generating a simulated leakage current signal based on the pulsed triggering signal; and a leakage current detection unit, for detecting the simulated leakage current and actual leakage current faults. An electrical connection device incorporating the leakage current detection device is also disclosed. By providing the self-test pulse generating unit, the self-test unit can be triggered immediately after the device is initially energized to perform a self test, which prevents faults and unsafe conditions before periodic self test starts. By providing a discharge unit, the leakage current detection device is prevented form performing self test under low voltage conditions and accidental tripping can be avoided.
Abstract:
An electrical power plug or receptacle with an over-temperature protection function, including a reset switch operated by a solenoid that electrically connects and disconnects the input side and output side electrical lines, and an temperature-controlled switch disposed in thermal contact with one or more electrical conductor plates on the input or output side. The temperature-controlled switch is connected in series with the solenoid between the output side phase and neutral lines. When the temperature of the temperature-controlled switch is within a normal range, the switch is open and does not form a current path with the solenoid. When the temperature is at or above a threshold temperature, the temperature-controlled switch is closed, a current flows through the switch and the solenoid between the output side phase and neutral lines, and the solenoid operates the reset switch to disconnect the input side from the output side.
Abstract:
A power cord having a circuit interrupter such as a leakage current detection interrupter (LCDI) or arc fault circuit interrupter (AFCI), with a detection signal conductor wire in addition to the current carrying wires between the source and the load, and a temperature controlled switch coupled to the detection signal conductor wire on the load side. The temperature controlled switch is affixed to a device under measurement which is associated with the load, and changes its open or closed state when the device overheats. This in turn changes the state of the current flowing in the detection signal conductor wire. In response thereto, the circuit interrupter, which is coupled to the detection signal conductor wire on the source end, interrupts the power supply to the load.
