摘要: Laser power control arrangements interrupt power to a laser used in electro-optical readers upon detection of an over-power condition not conforming to preestablished regulatory standards. In one embodiment, during an operational mode, a difference between laser drive currents at two operating points is compared to a difference between laser drive currents at the same two operating points during a calibration mode. The over-power condition is recognized when the difference during the operational mode exceeds the difference during the calibration mode by a predetermined amount. In another embodiment, the laser is only energized to emit the beam at a reduced power level well below regulatory standards for staring at even if a motor drive failed.

摘要: In an imaging reader for reading a target located in a range of working distances from the reader, a solid-state imager captures light from the target, and an optical assembly visually illuminates the target to aid an operator in aiming the imager at the target, and also visually indicates to the operator the range of working distances from the imager to the target.

摘要: A MEMS-based reader has an extended range of working distances for reading bar code symbols. A digitizer resolves the edges of bar code symbols when located at far-away distances from the reader within the working range. The digitizer includes a differentiator for differentiating the analog signal to generate a first derivative signal, a peak detector for detecting voltage peaks in the first derivative signal, and a comparator for comparing voltage drops after the voltage peaks with a predetermined voltage value, and for determining the presence of each edge when each voltage drop at least equals, and preferably exceeds, the predetermined voltage value.

摘要: Methods and apparatus for swipe image scanning comprising a scan stand and an imaging scanner. An exemplary scan stand comprises an illumination module and a receiving structure to receive the imaging scanner. Other embodiments further comprise a scan module, an illumination module, a processing unit, a detection component and memory. In an embodiment, the scan stand illuminates target dataforms brighter than the illumination from the scanner allowing for shorter exposure times and improved scanner performance.

摘要: An imaging-based bar code reader that includes an item guide to guide movement of an item including a target bar code such that target bar code passes through a field of view of the reader in a straight line. The reader further includes an imaging and decoding system to: 1) capture a series of images which include at least a part of the target bar code as the bar code is moved through the field of view of the reader; 2) sequentially analyze the series of captured images, for each captured image, identifying areas of the captured image representative of an image of the target bar code and decode decodable portions of the imaged target bar code; and 3) combining the decoded portions of the imaged target bar code using a sequence stitching method to obtain a full decode of the target bar code.
