摘要: An electronic commerce system includes a client computer and a server computer interconnected by a public packet switched communications network. The client computer is programmed to transmit to the server computer an order acceptance request that includes a plurality of terms or conditions of a proposed offer for a purchase, including multiple options of at least one of the terms or conditions of the offer. The server computer is programmed to process the order acceptance request based on pre-programmed criteria and, based on the processing of the order acceptance request, to transmit to the client computer an order acceptance response that includes a plurality of amendments to the proposed offer for the purchase, including selection of an option of the at least one of the terms or conditions. The processing of the order acceptance request is performed by a controller module that handles processing of the order acceptance request that is primarily not specific to a particular application of the electronic commerce system to which the order acceptance request pertains, and that initiates a plurality of calls to a plurality of plug-in modules. The server can handle fraud-avoidance processing of the order acceptance request. The server can initiate a call to a database of a virtual warehouse in which merchants store virtual inventories of items, to ensure that a sufficient virtual inventory exists for a purchase.

摘要: A system and method for cross-carrier mobile device capability discovery. According to an embodiment, a content delivery platform receives an identifier associated with a mobile computing device of a user, identifies a wireless carrier associated with the mobile computing device based on the received identifier, and detects one or more media capabilities supported by the user's mobile computing device for delivering content to the user's mobile computing device based at least in part on media capabilities supported by the identified carrier.

摘要: Methods and apparatus for displaying an electronic document on a display device coupled to a computer. The document includes text specified to be drawn using a desired font that is not on the computer. The methods and apparatus display the text and a region including the text initially using a substitute font different from the desired font; obtain the desired font from a source coupled to the computer for data transmission; and then redisplay the text and the region using the desired font. Aspects include the following features. The document has font description metrics for the desired font. The methods and apparatus read the font description metrics from the document before initially displaying the text; and use the font description metrics for the desired font to create the substitute font. The computer has font description metrics for the desired font, and the methods and apparatus use the font description metrics for the desired font to create the substitute font. The methods and apparatus adopt a font from a font resource on a local data store as the substitute font. The desired font is a font embedded in the document. The desired font is identified in the document; and obtaining the desired font includes obtaining the desired font from a font server.

摘要: A method and apparatus for providing an optimized page-based electronic document file and downloading the optimized file. An optimized document file is created from a non-optimized electronic document. Page contents are contiguously written in the optimized file and a page offset table is provided in the optimized file that includes page offset information used to locate individual pages and objects of the document. Shared objects, such as fonts, are included in the file after the page contents. When downloading the optimized file from a host, the page offset information is read early and is used to download a specific page requested by the user without downloading other pages in the document. In one embodiment, a viewer downloads a first portion of the requested page, while all remaining portions of the requested page are located and requested by a finder process using the page offset table. In alternative embodiments, all objects for a full page may be requested at once. The requested page can thus be downloaded with only one connection to the host. Shared objects can optionally be downloaded interleaved between portions of the page contents that reference the shared objects. Alternatively, with the use of hint tables, shared and other objects can be read in one transaction identifying byte ranges in the document. The requested page is displayed to the user on an output display device. The order elements are displayed provides quick access to useful information and to active elements.

摘要: In a computer system where applications and data manipulated by the applications are implemented in an object oriented manner, an object type and its deriving attribute are stored as an entry in a table having an identifier. The object type table is in turn stored in a database. Similarly, the object type and its attribute values having corresponding attribute identifiers are stored as an entry in a table having an identifier. The object type attribute table is in turn also stored in a database. An object type deriving manager and an object type attribute values obtaining manager corresponding to the object type table and the object type attribute table are provided for deriving object type and obtaining object type attribute values respectively. A row getting interface routine and a column getting interface routine are provided for invoking the functions of the object type deriving manager and the functions of the object type attribute values obtaining manager. The object type is derived and the object type attribute values are obtained for an application upon receipt of the object type table identifier, the object type deriving attributes, the object type attribute table identifier, and the object type attribute identifiers from the application. As a result, applications are relieved of the burden of maintaining the necessary information for deriving object type and obtaining object type attribute values to improve interoperability between the applications.
