    摘要: An image forming apparatus is capable of preventing toner on an intermediate transfer medium from being scattered toward a sheet and hence capable of effecting printing with favorable image quality that is free from noise and contamination. A sheet transported from a regist roller is guided toward a transfer belt serving as an intermediate transfer medium along a guide member and then guided to the transfer nip between the transfer belt and a secondary transfer roller via the upper end edge of the guide member. The sheet already comes into close contact with the transfer belt at a position upstream of the transfer nip. Consequently, even if an electric field for transfer emitted from the secondary transfer roller extends as far as the periphery of the transfer nip, no part of toner on the transfer belt will be scattered toward the sheet.

    摘要: A copying machine is provided with a transfer belt which is in contact with the surface of a photosensitive drum and which is made to run in an endless manner. A transfer roller and an auxiliary roller are arranged inside the region defined by the transfer belt. The transfer roller is in contact with the transfer belt, defining a transfer nip therebetween. The transfer nip is part of a conveyance nip defined between the drum surface and the transfer belt, and is located downstream of the region just under the photosensitive drum. The auxiliary roller is located downstream of the conveyance nip. The contact between the drum surface and the transfer belt defines a posterior-transfer conveyance nip located downstream of the transfer nip with respect to the running direction of the transfer belt, and also defines a prior-transfer conveyance nip located upstream of the transfer nip with respect to the same direction. The width of the posterior-transfer conveyance nip is less than that of the prior-transfer conveyance nip. With this structure, satisfactory transfer characteristics are maintained, and yet the separation characteristics of recording sheets with reference to the drum surface can be improved. Accordingly, images of good quality can be output.

    摘要: According to one embodiment, an image forming apparatus includes a conveying mechanism, a printing head, a charging device, a humidity sensor, and a controller. The conveying mechanism conveys a recording medium by adsorbing the medium using an electrostatic force. The printing head forms an image on the recording medium which is conveyed by the conveying mechanism. The charging device performs charging according to applied voltage, and adsorbs the recording medium using the electrostatic force, to the conveying mechanism. The humidity sensor detects the humidity in the apparatus. The controller determines voltage to be applied to the charging device in order to charge the charging device, on the basis of at least the humidity which is detected by the humidity sensor.
