摘要: Implementations of the disclosed subject matter provide a process for producing ethylene glycol from a carbohydrate feed. The process may include contacting, in a reactor under hydrogenation conditions, the carbohydrate feed with a bifunctional catalyst system which may include a heterogeneous hydrogenation catalyst including a magnetically active metal, and a soluble retro-Aldol catalyst including tungstate. A liquid effluent stream may be obtained from the reactor and may include hydrogenation catalyst particles and tungsten oxide precipitate particles. The hydrogenation catalyst particles may be magnetically separated from the tungsten oxide precipitate particles in the liquid effluent stream using a magnet in a separation vessel. The separated hydrogenation catalyst particles may be retained in a separation zone in the separation vessel and may be subsequently removed from the separation zone. A liquid product stream may be obtained from the separation vessel and may include the tungsten oxide precipitate particles and ethylene glycol.

摘要: An alkylation catalyst having a zeolite catalyst component and a binder component providing mechanical support for the zeolite catalyst component is disclosed. The binder component is an ion-modified binder that can include metal ions selected from the group consisting of Co, Mn, Ti, Zr, V, Nb, K, Cs, Ga, B, P, Rb, Ag, Na, Cu, Mg, Fe, Mo, Ce, and combinations thereof. The metal ions reduce the number of acid sites on the zeolite catalyst component. The metal ions can range from 0.1 to 50 wt % based on the total weight of the ion-modified binder. Optionally, the ion-modified binder is present in amounts ranging from 1 to 80 wt % based on the total weight of the catalyst.

摘要: This invention relates to an improved process for the selective production of N-methyl pyrrolidone (NMP) from gamma-butyrolactone and monomethyl amine preferably in aqueous form in the presence of a catalyst under comparatively milder conditions than the processes well known in the prior art of literature. The process is economically viable as it provides higher yield and selectivity for NMP which reduces the cost of separation of NMP from GBL. The catalyst shows good recyclability without significant loss in catalytic activity and no frequent regeneration is required.

摘要: A method of transitioning from a first catalyst to a second catalyst in a gas phase fluidized bed reactor comprising continuously feeding the first catalyst and a recycle stream comprising olefin monomer to the reactor; wherein the monomer contacts the first catalyst in the fluidized bed and polymerizes; wherein the reactor is operating in condensing mode (withdrawing a gaseous stream comprising unreacted monomer from the reactor, cooling the gaseous stream to condense a portion thereof, and contacting the cooled gaseous stream with fresh monomer to form the recycle stream); and wherein a liquid phase of the recycle stream evaporates within the fluidized bed; discontinuing the first catalyst to the reactor while continuing to feed the recycle stream; maintaining the condensing mode in reactor at >3 wt. % liquid phase in recycle stream while no fresh catalyst is introduced to reactor; and introducing the second catalyst to the reactor operating in condensing mode.

Also disclosed is a process to produce a dry purified carboxylic acid product by utilizing various purification methods on the crude carboxylic acid.
