摘要: A feedstock delivery system transfers a carbonaceous material, such as municipal solid waste, into a product gas generation system. The feedstock delivery system includes a splitter for splitting bulk carbonaceous material into a plurality of carbonaceous material streams. Each stream is processed using a weighing system for gauging the quantity of carbonaceous material, a densification system for forming plugs of carbonaceous material, a de-densification system for breaking up the plugs of carbonaceous material, and a gas and carbonaceous material mixing system for forming a carbonaceous material and gas mixture. A pressure of the mixing gas is reduced prior to mixing with the carbonaceous material, and the carbonaceous material to gas weight ratio is monitored. A transport assembly conveys the carbonaceous material and gas mixture to a first reactor where at least the carbonaceous material within the mixture is subject to thermochemical reactions to form the product gas.

摘要: An integrated biomass conversion system and a method of starting and shutting down the system are disclosed. The integrated biomass conversion system comprises a syngas generator, such as a gasifier, a cleanup engine and a syngas utilization system, which could be a power producing engine or a chemical reactor for chemical or fuel synthesis. The cleanup engine operates rich and at high temperatures so that the tars exhausted by the syngas generators are destroyed and not allowed to foul other components. An orderly sequence to start and shut down the integrated biomass conversion system is disclosed.

摘要: Internal combustion engines tolerant to tar-containing producer gas are disclosed. Two concepts are described. The engines are tolerant to producer gas from a biomass gasifier with minimal pretreatment. When biomass is gasified to be burned for power generation or to be used to synthesize chemicals such as biofuels, a large fraction of the installation cost is spent on equipment to clean up the heavy organic components (also referred to as ‘tars’) from the gas stream, hereafter referred to as ‘producer gas’. The invention described herein may be used to enable power generation from gasified biomass with minimal treatment. It may also be used to treat biomass at a very low cost for other uses such as synthesizing chemicals. The producer gas is not necessarily limited to biomass derived. Producer gas derived from coal or other sources has similar issues and the invention described herein would be equally applicable.

摘要: A biomass gasification power generation system including: a gas generation device that generates a combustible gas from a biomass and a gasification agent; an internal combustion engine that generates motive power from a fuel gas containing the combustible gas generated by the gas generation device; and a generator that generates electric power from the motive power generated by the internal combustion engine. The power generation system is additionally provided with a water electrolysis device that generates oxygen and hydrogen through the electrolysis of water. The gasification agent contains oxygen generated by the water electrolysis device, and the fuel gas contains hydrogen generated by the water electrolysis device. The oxygen concentration in the gasification agent is from 22 vol. % to 40 vol. %.

A method for treating raw synthesis gas a combined heat and power plant is also disclosed.

摘要: The invention relates to an environmentally friendly motor vehicle based on the use of energy-accumulating substances (EAS) and can be used not only in transportation engineering, but also in power engineering to produce electric power with the aid of thermal engines run on hydrogen that is produced from aluminum composites in reaction with water.The object of the invention is to provide an environmentally friendly motor vehicle powered by hydrogen that is produced from EAS, comprising a closed water supply system to supply a reactor of a hydrogen generator with water obtained by condensing water vapors from exhaust gases, and quick change cartridges composed of a cylinder casing and a cover with hydrogen-generating elements in the form of plates of aluminum composites mounted inside the casing.The object is attained in the following way. A motor vehicle comprising an internal combustion engine provided with a liquid cooling system with a primary radiator mounted in front of the engine, and a hydrogen generator accommodated in a trunk and operating on the reaction of aluminum composites with water, further comprises an exhaust gas cooling system to autonomously supply the generator with water by condensing water vapors in exhaust gases. The exhaust gas cooling system is connected to an exhaust manifold of the engine and consists of an expander, a condenser in the form of a gas/air heat exchanger and a storage tank for collecting water condensate and discharging uncondensed gases. The storage tank is connected by means of conduits to the hydrogen generator, wherein the supply of water to the latter and circulation of water in order to intensify the hydrogen release process are performed by a pump mounted inside the storage tank, and drainage of water from the generator into the storage tank is performed through a filter mounted in the generator housing.

摘要: A system for gasifying a carbonaceous feedstock, such as municipal waste, to generate power includes a devolatilization reactor that creates char from the feedstock and a gasifier that creates a product gas from both the char and from volatiles released when devolatilizing the feedstock. The product gas is reacted in a fuel cell to create electrical energy and process heat. The process heat is used to heat the devolatilization reactor and the gasifier. The gasifier comprises a plurality of configurable circuits that can each be tuned to meet the individual needs of the char material being gasified.
