摘要: A folding type display device (100A) according to the present invention includes first and second display units (100a, 100a′) and a biaxial hinge device (30) for coupling the first and second display units such that the first and second display units are rotatable around first and second rotation axes (L1, L2). The first and second display units include first and second display panels (10, 10′) and first and second light-transmissive covers (20, 20′). The first and second light-transmissive covers include first and second flat portions (24, 24′) having flat viewer-side surfaces (24a, 24a′) and first and second curved portions (22, 22′) having viewer-side surfaces (22a, 22a′) which are parts of cylindrical curved surfaces centered around first and second central axes (C1, C2). The first and second rotation axes of the biaxial hinge device match the first and second central axes. According to the present invention, a folding type display device capable of decreasing a joint in an image in an intermediate state between an open state and a closed state.

摘要: A direct-viewing type display device (100A) of the present invention includes: a display panel which has a display region (10A) that can be altered into a transparent state and a frame region (10F) provided outside the display region; and a light-transmitting cover (20) provided on a front side of the display panel. The light-transmitting cover includes a lens portion (22) positioned so as to overlap a region that includes part of the frame region of the display panel and part of a peripheral display region (10D) within the display region which adjoins the part of the frame region. The display device further includes a housing (30) which has a housing portion (36) provided at least on a side surface (10b) of the display panel. Part of light going out from the part of the peripheral display region and/or part of light entering the housing portion on a rear side goes out on a front side of the housing portion (36). In the display device of the present invention, the frame is visually obscured, and the display region can be altered into a transparent state.

The plurality of light guide portions include a transparent portion; the transparent portion has a metal portion provided in at least a part of a side face thereof; the incident face 21 of the light guide element 20 is disposed to overlap a part 32 of a peripheral display region adjoining the frame region 30 of the display panel 10 along a first axis J1 and to be parallel to a surface of the display panel 10; and a distance between the outgoing face 22 and the incident face 21 of the light guide element 20 increases along the first axis J1 from the part 32 of the peripheral display region toward the frame region 30. According to the present invention, a direct-viewing type display device having a frame region of the display panel obscured or a joint between tiled display panels obscured is provided with a simpler and lightweight structure than the conventional device.

According to the present invention, a display device is provided whose entire frame region including the corner portions can be obscured, such that joints can be obscured in the case of tiling.

摘要: A direct-viewing type display device includes: a display panel 10 having a display region 10A and a frame region 10F provided outside the display region, with a boundary extending along a first direction between the display region and the frame region, the display region having a plurality of pixels arrayed therein; and a light-transmitting cover 14 disposed on the viewer's side. The light-transmitting cover includes a lens portion 141 disposed astride the boundary for refracting a portion of light going out from the display region toward the frame region. The lens portion refracts the light so that light emitted from the plurality of pixels in the display region has a substantially equal pitch on a plane which is perpendicular to the first direction. A line of intersection 1412 between the plane which is perpendicular to the first direction and a viewer-side surface 1411 of the lens portion is a curve which is not a circular arc. According to the present invention, with a simpler structure than conventionally, there is provided a display device that displays an undistorted image, in which the frame region, or joints in the case of tiling, is obscured.

摘要: A direct-viewing type display device according to the present invention includes: at least one display panel having a display region and a frame region formed outside of the display region; and at least one Fresnel lens plate disposed on a viewer side of the at least one display panel with a predetermined interval therefrom. The Fresnel lens plate includes a Fresnel lens region at a position overlapping a region that contains a portion of the frame region of the display panel and a portion of a peripheral display region within the display region that adjoins the portion of the frame region along a first axis. A portion of display light exiting the portion of the peripheral display region is emitted from a region of the Fresnel lens region that overlaps a portion of the frame region, or a region outside the region, toward the viewer side. According to the present invention, there is provided a direct-viewing type display device in which a frame region of a display panel, or a joint in the case of tiling, is made unlikely to be seen, with a structure which is more simple and light-weighted than conventionally.

摘要: The display apparatus of the present invention includes a plurality of condensing elements 54a provided between a lighting device and a display panel 100. A first substrate 10 of the display panel 100 is placed on the side of a display medium layer 23 facing the lighting device while the second substrate 11 is placed on the observer side thereof. 摘要: In a display device, a backlight unit emits light forward. Picture elements are arranged in columns and rows to define a picture element plane and each of the picture elements has a transmitting region to transmit light coming from the backlight unit. Collecting elements are arranged in front of the backlight unit to transmit and collect the light on the picture element plane. Each collecting element is associated with the transmitting region of one of the picture elements. The light transmitted through each collecting element forms a beam spot on the picture element plane. The center of the beam spot is located within the transmitting region associated with the collecting element. Two beam spots, formed on two picture elements that are adjacent to each other in a row direction, have their centers of mass shifted from each other in a column direction on the picture element plane.
