The method includes: determining, by a relay selection device, link quality of a first link of each candidate relay UE in a candidate relay UE list, where the candidate relay UE list includes at least one candidate relay UE, and the first link of each candidate relay UE is a radio link between each candidate relay UE and a base station; and determining target relay UE from the candidate relay UE list according to the link quality of the first link of each candidate relay UE in the candidate relay UE list, where the target relay UE is used for relaying data transmitted between first UE and the base station.

    Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure provide a device to device (D2D) communication method and apparatus, to resolve at least a problem of a low success rate of discovery between user equipments in the prior art.
