Methods and apparatus to characterize a digital subscriber line (DSL) subscriber loop are disclosed. An example method comprises selecting a portion of a search space based on a measured transfer function response, the search space defining a plurality of combinations of transmission line parameters, and identifying a characterizing parameter of a digital subscriber line (DSL) subscriber loop from the selected portion of the search space, the characterizing parameter having an associated transfer function that substantially corresponds with the measured transfer function response.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for providing wireless communication services, (e.g., multimedia broadcast multicast services (MBMS)), are disclosed. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) detects a plurality of target cell evolved Node-Bs (eNodeBs) that neighbor a serving cell eNodeB. The WTRU evaluates cell reselection criteria and determines a neighboring target cell eNodeB to reselect. The WTRU receives and reads master information block (MIB) and system information messages of the neighboring target cell eNodeB, and confirms that the determined neighboring target cell eNodeB is not part of a multimedia broadcast single frequency network (MBSFN). The WTRU identifies the neighboring target cell eNodeB to the serving cell eNodeB. The WTRU then receives and reads MIB messages of the neighboring target cell eNodeB again to determine whether the system information has changed and, if so, the WTRU reads the system information and reselects to the neighboring target cell eNodeB, which provides the wireless communication services.
Abstract:
A WTRU configured to receive a multicast, a unicast or mixed signal. A multimedia signal may be a Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Signal (MBMS). The WTRU switches between an MBMS and a mixed signal and determines optimal time to switch between the MBMS and mixed signal. The WTRU switches between receiving the MBMS and mixed signal in an adaptive or semi-static pattern. A flat broadcast channel (BCH) structure in an MBMS dedicated cell is provided, eliminating need for a dedicated broadcast channel (D-BCH). An MBMS-dedicated cell uses a single paging channel for both paging-indicators and paging-record-blocks. A system information broadcast indicates flexible resource usage and paging-record-block limits. Tracking area (TA)/cell association is provided for an MBMS-dedicated cell and geographically co-located non-MBMS-dedicated cells. MBMS-dedicated cell system information is broadcast to regulate WTRU operation while receiving MBMS within said cell. Generic Access Profile (GAP) definitions is part of system information.

A clamp changing apparatus includes a holder (70) including a plurality of clamp-holding devices (72), each of which holding a clamp (10) thereon, a robot (50) including a shaft (501), and a coupling device (30) secured on the shaft of the robot. The robot selects one of the clamps held on the clamp-holding devices according to a predetermined machining program therein, changes out a used clamp for the selected clamp, and mounts the selected clamp on the coupling device.

A method and apparatus are disclosed for communicating with a Wireless Transmit/Receive Unit in wireless communications. The WTRU, capable of communicating in a 3GPP network and a non-3GPP network, receives messages with the assistance of the non-3GPP network through a Paging Entity.

This application is related to a method and apparatus for optimizing the transmission of PLMN-IDs in a wireless network. This is accomplished by reducing the amount of bandwidth required to transmit a given set of PLMN-IDs.
Abstract:
A method for assigning a tracking area (TA) is disclosed. A mobility state of a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) is determined and the TA is assigned based on the determined mobility state. Also disclosed is a method for accessing a closed subscriber group (CSG) TA. A CSG TA identifier is received at a WTRU and is stored. A CSG TA broadcast is received and the broadcast CSG TA is accessed if an identifier of the broadcast CSG TA matches the stored CSG TA identifier. Also disclosed is a method for changing a mobility state of a WTRU. A current mobility state of the WTRU is determined and a predetermined metric of the WTRU is examined. The predetermined metric is evaluated to determine if the metric has crossed a threshold and the mobility state is changed based on the evaluated metric.

A method for handover using a handover (HO) candidate set includes receiving measurement statistic parameters. Statistics in a serving cell and potential target cells are measured. An HO candidate set is generated based upon the measured statistics in the serving cell and potential target cells, and the measured statistics are reported. A handing over to one of the potential target cells is performed, wherein a decision to handover to the one of the potential target cells is based upon the measured statistics of the cells in the HO candidate set.
Abstract:
The present invention is a method and apparatus for resource allocation signaling for grouping user real time services. Uplink signaling for voice activity reporting of each user's transition between an active state and an inactive voice state is sent from a wireless transmit/receive unit to a Node B. Radio resource allocation to users of a wireless communication system varies based on user measurement reporting, a pre-determined pattern such as frequency hopping, or a pseudorandom function. Grouping methods are adjusted to better utilize the voice activity factor, so that statistical multiplexing can be used to more efficiently utilize physical resources.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a method and apparatus for detecting step and impulse disturbances. The method includes determining a pattern based on a plurality of probabilities associated with a corresponding plurality of wafer processing parameters and determining a type of a disturbance based upon the pattern.
