    摘要: Polymers of a 3,4-substituted pyrrole compound substituted by an electron-attractive group having a Hammett's substituent constant (.sigma..sub.p) of 0.30 to 0.80 in at least one of the 3- and 4- positions are disclosed. The polymers are stable in the air in a dope-free state and show distinct electrochromism. Some of them are soluble in an alkaline aqueous solvent. Therefore, they are useful as electrochromic elements, etc.

The at least one of the first blade and the second blade is formed at a portion intermediate its pinching length with a cutout.
