Abstract: An image encoding/decoding method and apparatus are provided. An image decoding method performed by an image decoding apparatus comprises decoding a first flag specifying whether in-loop filtering is able to be performed across a boundary of a subpicture from a bitstream and performing the in-loop filtering on a boundary of a current block, based on the first flag. Based on the boundary of the current block being a boundary of a current subpicture including the current block, the in-loop filtering on the boundary of the current block is not performed, based on the first flag for the current subpicture specifying that the in-loop filtering is not able to be performed across the boundary of the current subpicture or the first flag for an adjacent subpicture adjacent to the boundary of the current block specifying that the in-loop filtering is not able to be performed across the boundary of the adjacent subpicture.

Abstract: An image encoding/decoding method and apparatus include features of generating a prediction block by performing intra prediction on a current block, determining whether to apply position dependent intra prediction combination (PDPC) to the prediction block, and generating a final prediction block of the current block, by applying PDPC to the prediction block based on the determination. The determining whether to apply PDPC to the prediction block may include determining whether a size of the current block satisfies a predetermined condition. Based on the size of the current block satisfying the predetermined condition, it may be determined to apply PDPC to the prediction block. Based on the size of the current block not satisfying the predetermined condition, a determination of a color component of the current block may be skipped and it may be determined not to apply PDPC to the prediction block.

Based on the target boundary being a transform block boundary and a color component of the reconstructed picture being a chroma component, the boundary strength may be determined based on whether joint CbCr residual coding is performed on at least one of two blocks adjacent to the target boundary, and the joint CbCr residual coding may correspond to encoding residual samples for a chroma Cb component and a chroma Cr component as a single transform block.
