    摘要: A Lambda probe type gas sensor for use in determining the oxygen content of exhaust gases produced by an internal combustion engine includes a sensor element of the electrochemical, solid electrolyte, metallic oxide semiconductor or Lambda air-fuel ratio variety, which sensor element is arranged in a metallic housing and is contacted by connecting cables that are brought out of the metallic housing. These connecting cables are each surrounded by cable insulation that is made of PTFE (Polytetra-fluoroethylene). The surface of the cable insulation has, at least in certain areas, a gas-permeable section that allows a reference atmosphere to arrive inside the cable insulation and, from there, in the metallic housing. The gas-permeable section, on the other hand, prevents ingress of liquids such as fuel, condensed water, etc., This is achieved, for example, by an additionally applied, PTFE film that is placed over the gas-permeable section.

The sealing body (19') has formed-on structures that narrow the cross section of the throughgoing hole (42) and are deformed by the sensor element (22) when the sensor element (22) is inserted such that the sensor element (22) is stopped, arrested or fixed in the installed position in the throughgoing hole (42) by the formed-on structures. The facing end faces of the ceramic molded parts (18, 20) and of the sealing body (19') each have form-fitting engaging elements that engage one another and rest against the opposite, touching end faces, which engaging elements orient the ceramic molded parts (18, 20) and the sealing body (19') radially such that the respective throughgoing holes (32, 42, 52) extend in alignment with one another.

    摘要: To provide protection to the sensitive solid ion conductive electrolyte, a metal sleeve is placed to surround the electrolyte, with clearance, and formed with openings having an increasing cross-sectional area starting from the housing or socket towards the bottom of the solid electrolyte tube to provide an approximately even temperature gradient upon exposure of the element to exhaust gases, the sleeve being additionally so formed that deflection surfaces or vanes are formed internally thereof, for example by punching the openings through the sleeve as elongated slots leaving deflecting vanes, to deflect gases passing through the openings from direct impingement on the solid electrolyte tube to protect the solid electrolyte tube against impact and contamination.
