Abstract: An electronic device includes a display, one or more sensors, a communication device, one or more processors, and a memory. The one or more processors present an image from an image content file depicting representations of one or more persons on the display. The one or more sensors detect user input interacting with the display at one or more locations corresponding to the representations of the one or more persons. Thereafter, the one or more sensors detect a lifting gesture lifting the electronic device from a first position to a second, more elevated position. The one or more processors cause, in response to the one or more sensors detecting the user input and the lifting gesture, the communication device to initiate communication with one or more remote electronic devices associated with the one or more persons depicted in the image.

Abstract: One or more sensors of an electronic device detect a geometric form factor of the electronic device. A fingerprint sensor situated beneath a first display of the electronic device receives fingerprint data. One or more processors authenticate an authorized user of the electronic device using the fingerprint data with one or more processors. The one or more processors select between the first display and a second display of the electronic device as a function of the geometric form factor and unlock the selected display in response to authenticating the authorized user of the electronic device.

Abstract: An electronic device includes a memory storing a plurality of fingerprint reference data files and one or more sensors identifying whether a mechanical support condition of the electronic device is a hand supported condition or a surface supported condition. A fingerprint sensor receives fingerprint data while the electronic device is in the mechanical support condition. One or more processors select a prioritized fingerprint data reference file from the plurality of fingerprint reference data files as a function of the mechanical support condition and authenticate an authorized user of the electronic device by comparing the fingerprint data to the prioritized fingerprint data reference file before comparing the fingerprint data to any other fingerprint reference data files of the plurality of fingerprint reference data files. The prioritized fingerprint reference data file can also be selected as a function of a geometric form factor of the electronic device.

Abstract: A device includes two cameras, a front facing camera and a back facing camera. In response to a request to use one camera (e.g., the back facing camera) with particular functionality of an application, the application queries a system to verify whether the user is authenticated and authorized to use the camera with the particular functionality of the application. This authentication and authorization is performed based on an image of the user captured using another camera of the device (e.g., the front facing camera). Depending on whether the user is authenticated and authorized to use the camera with the particular functionality of the application, the particular functionality is performed using the camera, secondary (e.g., lesser) functionality is performed using the camera, or no functionality is performed using the camera.

Abstract: A method, system, and computer program product for facilitating an electronic transaction between a merchant device and a first device having limited network connectivity. The method includes the first device detecting a transaction trigger that indicates an electronic transaction, that is remotely processed by a transaction service is to occur. The method further includes, identifying a second device within a predetermined proximity of the first device which has a secondary connection to the transaction service that meets a connection service criteria. The method includes establishing a data pipe that directly connects the first device and the second device. In response to the data pipe being established, the first device configures the second device to reroute all transaction data received via the data pipe to the transaction service and transmits the transaction data to the second device to complete the electronic transaction between the first device and the merchant device.

Abstract: An electronic device includes a wireless communication circuit and one or more processors. When this occurs, the one or more processors monitor a duration during which the wireless communication circuit is unable to transmit the electronic communication. Later the one or more processors alter the one or more temporally dependent content elements as a function of the duration to obtain a modified electronic communication, which is transmitted from the wireless communication circuit.
