摘要： When making an amide by hydrolysis of a nitrile in an aqueous medium containing a Raney copper or other black copper catalyst, the hydrolysis reaction can be improved if the catalyst has been contacted with an aqueous solution of a water soluble vanadium compound followed by thorough rinsing before introduction into the aqueous medium.

摘要： A homogenous blend is formed of different water soluble polymer types, for instance of particular addition and condensation polymers, by forming one of the polymers from its monomeric starting material by polymerisation in a solution of the other polyer. The resultant solution has a concentration of above 10% but is homogenous. It can be used as a bulk solution or can be dried to powder or can be present as a reverse phase dispersion.

摘要： A polymer of an ethylenically unsaturated monomer containing a pendant hydrophobic group and, optionally, other monomers such as (meth) acrylic acid, ethyl acrylate or acrylamide is provided as a stable, substantially anhydrous dispersion containing at least 40% by weight of the polymer in a continuous phase of a non-aqueous liquid. The polymer in the dispersion generally includes acid groups and is neutralized, preferably with ammonia or a volatile amine. The dispersion can be made by reverse phase polymerization of an aqueous blend of monomers, followed by dehydration, or by making the polymer from a water insoluble blend of monomers by oil in water emulsion polymerization, dispersing the resultant oil in water emulsion into the non-aqueous liquid, and then dehydrating. The monomer including the hydrophobic group is preferably an allyl ether.
