    Abstract: Wireless communication systems and methods related to service advertising and discovery with dynamic spectrum use are provided. A user equipment (UE) receives, from a first wireless communication device, a network information signal in a spectrum. The UE receives, from a second wireless communication device, a service advertising signal based on at least a synchronization to the network information signal. The service advertising signal indicates an availability of a service. The UE transmits, to the second wireless communication device, a request for the service. The first wireless communication device and the second wireless communication device are associated with different operating entities of the spectrum.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A base station may perform an access procedure to obtain access to a shared radio frequency spectrum band during a measurement window and generate a synchronization signal (SS) burst comprising a plurality of SS blocks. The base station may perform a beam sweeping first transmission of the SS burst over the shared radio frequency spectrum based at least in part on the access procedure. In the first transmission or a second transmission, the base station may transmit at least one of a first indication of a time of access to the shared radio frequency spectrum band with respect to the measurement window, a second indication of a transmission beam associated with the SS block, and a third indication of a quantity of remaining SS blocks from the plurality of SS blocks to follow the SS block in the measurement window.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described that support overriding a beam monitoring pattern for control channel transmissions based on channel conditions between a user equipment and a base station. A base station may select a beam monitoring pattern for transmitting control channel transmissions, which may include a pattern in which two or more beams are used for control channel transmissions. In the event that a first beam of the beams used in the beam monitoring pattern meets certain metrics, the use of one or more additional beams according to the beam monitoring pattern may be overridden and transmissions continued using the first beam. The metrics for continuing use of the first beam may include channel quality metrics, a number of consecutive successful transmissions using the first beam, one or more other metrics, or any combination thereof.

    Abstract: A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. A base station transmits a provisional grant uplink assignment to a set of UEs. When a UE receives the provisional grant uplink assignment, the UE performs a clear channel assessment (CCA) operation on a secondary component carrier (SCC) based on the provisional grant UL assignment, the SCC being a contention-based carrier. Then, the UE transmits a schedule request (SR) on the SCC when the CCA operation succeeds. The base station transmits grant confirmation(s) on the SCC in response to the detected SR(s). Once the UE receives a grant confirmation on the SCC in response to the SR, the UE transmits data on the SCC.

    Abstract: Wireless devices may exchange data related to multiple available random access procedures for network access. A random access procedure of the available random access procedures may be selected, and a random access message transmitted based on the selected random access procedure. Available random access procedures may include procedures that provide for a different number of random access messages or that are for use in communications having different transmission time intervals (TTIs). For example, a random access procedure may include a total of two random access messages or a total of four random access messages for accessing the wireless communications network. The use of one random access procedure instead of the other may depend on a wireless device's location relative to its serving base station.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A wireless device may identify a configuration for uplink and downlink communications that defines subframe configuration options for each subframe of a frame. For example, the configuration may establish parameters for time division duplexing (TDD) operation between a base station and a user equipment (UE). The wireless device may determine a constraint for a subframe of the frame based on the configuration and determine an adaptive subframe configuration based on the constraint. The adaptive subframe configuration may include one or several downlink symbol periods and one or several uplink symbol periods. The wireless device may communicate during the subframe according to the adaptive subframe configuration rather than the original configuration. The adaptive subframe may be constrained by the identified uplink and downlink configuration, which may avoid disruption to UEs.

    Abstract: UE-aided channel selection within unlicensed frequency bands. A base station may communicate with UEs using LTE/LTE-A carrier waveforms (e.g., configured as a secondary cell) in the unlicensed frequency band. The base station may configure UEs for wide-band interference feedback for channels in the unlicensed frequency band. The measurements of wide-band signal strength may be performed by the UEs on channels for which the base station is not currently transmitting, or during silent periods of a configured secondary cell. The UEs may feedback an average total received power over a measurement bandwidth for one or more frequency channels of the unlicensed frequency band. The base station may receive the wide-band signal strength feedback from the UEs and identify potential frequency channels for channel selection for the secondary cell based on its own measurements of the candidate channels, and the wide-band signal strength feedback from the UEs.
