    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive a control message indicating frequency multiplexing for downlink control information (DCI) over a set of downlink shared channel resources of a downlink shared channel occasion. The UE may determine a frequency multiplexing configuration (e.g., mapping locations) for the DCI. The UE may monitor the downlink shared channel occasion for the set of downlink shared channel resources based on the frequency multiplexing configuration. In some cases, the UE may receive one or more downlink reference signals for the DCI over the set of downlink shared channel resources. For example, the UE may receive downlink reference signals dedicated for the DCI, downlink reference signals dedicated for the set of downlink shared channel resources, or both.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In a wireless communications system, a user equipment (UE) may receive an indication from a base station that a downlink shared channel resource in a scheduled occasion, such as a semi-persistently scheduled occasion, includes downlink control information (DCI). The UE may monitor the downlink shared channel resource for the DCI based on the indication. The UE may determine a set of uplink control channel resources based on one or more parameters of the DCI and the downlink shared channel resource. The parameters of the DCI on the semi-persistently scheduled downlink shared channel may implicitly indicate the set of uplink control channel resources to the UE. The UE may transmit an uplink control message to the base station using the set of uplink control channel resources.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may communicate with a base station by initiating a random access procedure with a multi-root preamble. The UE may receive, from the base station, a configuration message that indicates one or more parameters for the multi-root preamble. The one or more parameters may include cyclic shifts, phase rotations, and sequence roots corresponding to a plurality of sequences. The base station may identify the one or more parameters and transmit the configuration message based on the identifying. The UE may identify the one or more parameters for the multi-root preamble based on the configuration message and/or a pre-configuration at the UE. The UE may transmit, to the base station, the multi-root preamble based at least in part on the one or more parameters.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A communication device, such as, a base station and a UE may support transmitting and receiving information bits according to one or more index modulation schemes. For example, the communication device may support conveying information bits using a reference signal index modulation scheme, which uses reference signals transmissions using particular resources or reference signal sequences, or both, to convey the information bits. The communication device may improve reference signal resource usage by supporting a multi-mode reference signal index modulation scheme, which utilizes all reference signal resources to convey the information bits. By using the multi-mode reference signal index modulation scheme, the communication device may, as a result, include features for improvements to conveying information bits, among other benefits.

    Abstract: Various designs for reference signals for beam management (BM) in non-terrestrial networks (NTNs) in 5G systems are discussed. NTN platforms determine to transmit a BM reference signal associated with a beam in an NTN. The BM reference signal is configured to facilitate beam switching at a wireless communication entity, and the beam having a beam bandwidth. The NTN platforms determines a frequency resource for transmitting the BM reference signal, and transmits, to a wireless communication entity, the BM reference signal in the determined frequency resource. The wireless communication entity monitors the frequency resource, receives the BM reference signal associated with the beam in the frequency resource, and manages beam selection based on the received BM reference signal. Other aspects and features are also claimed and described.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described in which one or more semi-persistent scheduling (SPS) configurations may provide periodic resources for communications between a base station and a user equipment (UE). One or more of the SPS configurations may also provide alternative resources that may be used for the communications in the event that a communication on the periodic or dynamically scheduled resources is cancelled. In the event that the base station transmits a cancellation indicator that cancels one or more of the communications, it may be determined whether to use the alternative resources for the associated communication. The determination to sue the alternative resources may be based on a time duration of the cancellation, a frequency portion of the cancelled resources, or combinations thereof.

    Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatuses, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for wireless communication. In one aspect, a method of wireless communication performed by a user equipment (UE) includes receiving, from a base station, a remaining minimum system information (RMSI) physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) that includes downlink control information (DCI). The DCI indicates a configuration of resources associated with RMSI repetition or RMSI slot aggregation. The method further includes monitoring for one or more RMSI messages based on the configuration of resources. The monitoring includes monitoring for multiple repetitions of an RMSI message based on the configuration of resources being associated with RMSI repetition and monitoring for a single RMSI message that is divided across multiple slots based on the configuration of resources being associated with RMSI slot aggregation. Other aspects are also claimed and described.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications that support upstream timing control mechanisms for non-terrestrial networks are described. Generally, the described techniques provide for wireless communications from a user equipment (UE) in wireless communication with a satellite. A gateway in the non-terrestrial networks may receive an upstream transmission from the UE in wireless communication with the satellite and determine a timing adjustment for a second upstream transmission from the UE based on the upstream transmission from the UE. The gateway may then transmit to the UE in a group control information message or a dedicated physical channel message, a timing command indicating the timing adjustment for the second upstream transmission. The UE may receive the second timing adjustment and transmit data over the second upstream transmission using the second timing adjustment.
