One technique includes determining, based on one or more conditions, for each of a plurality of base stations available for a coordinated multipoint (CoMP) transmission, whether the base station has transmitted a channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS) in unlicensed spectrum. CSI feedback is reported based on the determination.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to a method and apparatus for receiving a joint transport block transmission. A user equipment (UE) receives a configuration message configuring the UE to receive a joint transport block (TB) transmission of data from a plurality of transmission points (TRPs). The UE determines a transport block size (TBS) for receiving the joint TB transmission, receives transport blocks corresponding to the joint TB transmission, each transport block from a respective one of the plurality of TRPs, combines the transport blocks when a size of each of the transport blocks is the determined TBS, and recovers the data based on the combined transport blocks. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also claimed and described.

Furthermore, some techniques and apparatuses may avoid such collision while still allowing efficient use of resources, such as by deferring the uplink data communication within a data segment, rate matching an uplink data communication around uplink control resources (e.g., cell-specific uplink control resources and/or UE-specific uplink control resources), puncturing the uplink data communication to avoid the uplink control resources, multiplexing uplink control information on an uplink data channel, and/or the like.

Abstract: In an aspect of the disclosure, a method, a computer-readable medium, and an apparatus are provided. In one example, the apparatus may be a base station. In certain configurations, the apparatus may transmit information indicating a narrowband frequency hopping pattern to at least one UE. In certain aspects, the narrowband frequency hopping pattern may correspond to a plurality of frames. In certain other aspects, the plurality of frames may include at least one non-anchor channel and being associated with a plurality of anchor channels. The apparatus may communicate with the at least one UE using the narrowband frequency hopping pattern. In certain aspects, communication on the plurality of anchor channels may occur during the same frames.

Abstract: Various features related to eMTC-U deployment are described. In an aspect of the disclosure, an apparatus (e.g., a base station) maybe configured to select a subset of non-anchor channels from a set of available non-anchor channels, where the subset of non-anchor channels may correspond to a bandwidth within an unlicensed band. The apparatus maybe further configured to transmit information indicating the subset of non-anchor channels via an anchor channel. In some configurations, the subset of non-anchor channels maybe selected based on channel measurements performed by the base station or a UE. In one aspect, a UE may receive, from a base station via an anchor channel, information indicating a subset of non-anchor channels selected from a set of available non-anchor channels. The UE may transmit data on one or more non-anchor channel of the subset of non-anchor channels.

Abstract: Aspects presented herein provide for dual connectivity with a standalone service provider in the unlicensed spectrum. A first base station may receive, from a UE, an indication of a capability for standalone operation in a first RAT that utilizes an unlicensed frequency spectrum and a dual connectivity capability involving the first RAT and a second RAT that utilizes a licensed frequency spectrum, wherein dual connectivity comprises the UE being connected to a master base station on a first frequency and a secondary base station on a second frequency at a same time. The first base station may signal a first set of procedures for dual connectivity when the level of support at the first base station is at higher layers of the first RAT and may signal a second set of procedures when the level of support at the first base station extends to lower layers of the first RAT.

Abstract: The extension of NB-IoT and eMTC communications into the unlicensed spectrum introduces a number of problems associated with channel quality measurement and reporting. A method, apparatus, and computer readable medium are presented that provide a technique for channel quality measurement and reporting that addressed such problems. A UE apparatus measures a CQI measurement for each of a plurality of groups of hopping frequencies, wherein a set of hopping frequencies is grouped into the plurality of groups and reports a CQI for each of the plurality of groups. A base station may configure the UE for CQI reporting and may receive a CQI for each of a plurality of groups of hopping frequencies, wherein a set of hopping frequencies is grouped into the plurality of groups. The set of hopping frequencies comprise frequencies in an unlicensed spectrum.

Abstract: In order to maintain flexible system bandwidth and a flexible center frequency, without requiring a cyclic prefix or guard interval, a transmitter apparatus transmits a reference signal based on a single carrier waveform having a mixed symbol structure, in reference signal symbols using at least one of a cyclic prefix and a guard interval and transmits data based on the single carrier waveform without the cyclic prefix or the guard interval. The data may be based on input data processed using overlapping FFT windows, and an amount of overlap between the FFT windows may be configurable by the transmitter or the receiver. An apparatus receiving the downlink transmission comprising data based on a single carrier waveform may process the data based on overlapping FFT windows.
