    Abstract: A controller for a heater has two switch circuits for controlling the supply of electric power to an atomizing glow plug for atomizing fuel and an ignition glow plug for igniting atomized fuel, the glow plugs being connected parallel to each other. One of the switch circuits includes a series-connected resistor for producing a voltage drop thereacross. During an inital period of operation of the heater, the first switch circuit free of the series-connected resistor is turned on to heat the glow plugs quickly up to respective prescribed temperatures for atomizing and igniting the fuel. Upon elapse of a predetermined period of time, during which the prescribed temperatures are reached, the first switch circuit is turned off and the second switch circuit with the series-connected resistor is turned on to keep the glow plugs at the prescribed temperatures without further heating them.

    Abstract: As a driving power source for an automatic door, a brushless D.C. motor is employed, and the position and the speed of a door member are determined by making use of detection pulses issued from magnetic pole position detectors which are associated with the brushless D.C. motor without providing any additional detector means separately. On the basis of the current position and the current speed of the door as determined from the detection pulses and of a programmed sequence of opening and closing operations for the door as stored in a control system, the opening and closing movements of the door member are controlled.

    Abstract: An ultrasonic flow or current meter having at least one pair of transducers, a transceiver which applies a pulse signal to one of the transducers to produce an ultrasonic pulse wave, the other transducer receiving the ultrasonic pulse wave and producing the corresponding electrical signal, a reference pulse signal generator, a counter for counting the pulse signals from the reference signal generator in relation to the corresponding electrical signal, and a logical operational circuit. The logical operational circuit is supplied with the output signal from the counter and calculates a difference between a first reciprocal of a time required for the ultrasonic pulse wave to propagate from one of the pair of transducers to the other transducer and a second reciprocal of a time required for the ultrasonic pulse wave to propagate in the reverse direction between the pair of transducers, with the difference between the first and second reciprocals being multiplied by a constant.
