Abstract: Methods and devices for performing color imaging processing on the fly for barcode readers are disclosed herein. An example method includes color image processing in a barcode reader to identify one of raw image data or processed image data and further decoding indicia in the identified raw or processed image data. The method includes receiving a raw image data of an image of an object, performing image processing on the raw image data, analyzing the raw image data and the processed image data, and identifying which of the raw image data or processed image data to communicate to a decoder for further decoding. The decoder then identifies, in the identified raw image data or processed image data, indicia corresponding to an object, and decodes the identified indicia.

Abstract: A weigh platter assembly includes a weigh platter and an off-platter detection assembly having a light emission assembly, a light detection assembly, and a controller. The light emission assembly has a light source to emit a light along a lateral edge of the weigh platter. The light detection assembly detects at least a portion of the light reflected from an object extending across the light beam and includes a sensor offset from the light source and an aperture positioned in front of the sensor and configured to limit a field of view of the sensor along the lateral edge. The controller is configured to provide a first signal in response to a first value received from the sensor and to provide a second signal, different from the first signal, in response to a second value.

Abstract: Systems and methods for decoding multiple indicia are provided. An example includes an indicia reading device comprising an imaging assembly configured to capture 2D image data of an environment appearing in a first FOV, the first FOV directed at a product scanning region; a depth sensor assembly including at least one depth sensor, wherein the at least one depth senor is configured to capture 3D image data of an environment appearing in a second FOV, the second FOV at least partially overlapping the first FOV; a controller, having at least a processor and a memory, communicably coupled to the imaging assembly and depth sensor assembly. The memory stores computer-readable instructions which when executed by the processor causes the controller to take the following actions: analyze the 2D image data to identify a quantity of indicia present in the 2D image data; analyze the 3D image data to identify a quantity of items present in the 3D image data; and, responsive to the quantity of the indicia present in the 2D image data being equal to or greater than the quantity of items present in the 3D image data, transmit payload data of at least some of the indicia present in the 2D image data to a host.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides new and innovative systems, methods, and apparatuses for detecting non-decode events in indicia scanning settings. In an example, a system comprises a depth imaging assembly, a 2D imaging assembly, and a processing device, wherein the processing device is configured to attempt to decode an indicium affixed to a first item that is passing through at least one of a field of view of the 2D imaging assembly or a field of view of the depth imaging assembly, determine a first characteristic associated with the first item based on depth data from the depth imaging array, and responsive to a failed attempt to decode the indicium, detect a second item that is passing through the field of view of the 2D imaging assembly and the field of view of the depth imaging assembly, determine a second characteristic associated with the second item based on depth data from the depth imaging assembly, determine if the first item is a same item as the second item based on comparing the first characteristic and the second characteristic, and responsive to determining that the first item and the second item are not the same item, transmit a message to an alert module that is indicative of a non-decode event.
