    Abstract: An electrode assembly that includes an electrically conductive layer, a first impedance reduction system, and a second impedance reduction system. The electrically conductive layer forms an electrode portion of the electrode assembly and a first surface to be placed adjacent a person's skin. The first impedance reduction system is configured to dispense a first amount of an electrically conductive gel onto the first surface of the electrically conductive layer in response to a first activation signal. The second impedance reduction system is configured to dispense a second amount of the electrically conductive gel onto the first surface of the electrically conductive layer in response to a second activation signal.

    Abstract: An external medical device is provided which is configured to provide a user with access to one or more training modules. The external medical device includes one or more electrodes configured to detect a cardiac activity of a patient, an audio and/or visual output, and a controller coupled to the audio and/or visual output. The controller is configured to: detect at least one of a predetermined event and a device use pattern; and responsive to detecting the at least one of the predetermined event and the device use pattern, provide the patient access to one or more training modules relating to a use or a configuration of the external medical device via the audio and/or visual output. The device can also include a user interface configured to provide access to at least one training module according to a schedule of training modules for the patient.

    Abstract: An external wearable defibrillator for monitoring a patient for cardiac-related events is provided. The defibrillator includes ECG sensors configured to be disposed about a torso of the patient, therapy electrodes, and at least one motion sensor. The ECG sensors, therapy electrodes, and at least one motion sensor are configured to be worn continuously for an extended period of time. The defibrillator includes a wearable medical device controller including at least one processor configured to receive ECG data, receive motion data, identify at least one of ventricular tachycardia or ventricular fibrillation, initiate a treatment protocol including a defibrillation shock, and, using at least one of the ECG data or the motion data, identify a predetermined pattern for syncope. The predetermined pattern includes bradycardia. The at least one processor is further configured to record the predetermined pattern in a memory and perform an intervening action to address the predetermined pattern.

    Abstract: A wearable defibrillator for use in monitoring patient movement and cardiac activity and treating a patient includes a garment configured to be worn by the patient, treatment electrodes configured to apply an electric current to the patient, and an alarm module configured to provide audio, visual, and haptic notifications. The notifications are configured to indicate that an electric current will be administered imminently and prompt the patient to provide a response input. The wearable defibrillator includes a motion sensor configured to detect motion and body position of a patient, and a controller in electrical communication with the alarm module and the motion sensor. The controller is configured to monitor for the response input after the prompt, determine, based on the detected motion and body position, whether the patient is sleeping, and cause a change in one or more characteristics of the prompt on determining that the patient is sleeping.

    Abstract: A system including an ambulatory medical treatment device is provided. The ambulatory medical treatment device includes a memory, a treatment component configured to treat a patient, at least one processor coupled to the memory and the treatment component, a user interface component, and a system interface component. The user interface component is configured to receive an update session request and to generate the update session identifier responsive to receiving the request. The system interface component is configured to receive an encoded request including an identifier of an update session and device update information, to decode the encoded request to generate a decoded request including the device update information and the identifier of the update session, to validate the decoded request by determining that the update session identifier matches the identifier of the update session, and to apply the device update information to the ambulatory medical treatment device.

    Abstract: A therapy electrode system comprises a garment configured to be worn about a torso of a patient, a therapy electrode disposed in the garment and configured to deliver one or more electrical shocks to a body of the patient, a replaceable gel cartridge disposed on the therapy electrode and configured to release a conductive gel onto the patient's skin at an interface between the therapy electrode and the patient's skin prior to the delivery of the one or more electrical shocks to the body of the patient at the interface between the therapy electrode and the patient's skin, and a fluid pump in fluid communication with the replaceable gel cartridge.
