A disazo dye derived from a pyridine coupling component and having the general formula ##STR1## where X is fluorine, chlorine, bromine, methyl, trifluoromethyl, methoxy, cyano, nitro, methylsulfonyl, ethylsulfonyl, phenylsulfonyl, a carboxylic acid ester group of 2 to 11 carbon atoms, carbamoyl or C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 -N-monosubstituted or -N,N-disubstituted carbamoyl or sulfamoyl, Y.sup.1 is hydrogen, chlorine, bromine, nitro, methyl or cyano, Y.sup.2 is hydrogen, chlorine, bromine or methoxy, Z is cyano or carbamoyl, R is hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 -alkyl, R.sup.1 is hydrogen, methyl, ethyl or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkoxy, R.sup.2 is methyl, ethyl or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkoxy, the radicals B.sup.1 independently or one another are hydrogen or an aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, araliphatic or aromatic radical and B.sup.2 is hydrogen or unsubstituted or substituted alkyl, or B.sup.1 and B.sup.2 together with the nitrogen are a saturated 5-membered to 7-membered ring. The present dyes exhibit excellent fastness properties when utilized in the dyeing and printing of polyester and cotton fabrics as well as polyester/cotton union fabrics.

Dye formulations for dyeing and printing cellulose and cellulosic textile material which in addition to conventional components contain a dye of the general formula (I): ##STR1## in which D is the radical of a diazo component;R is hydrogen, C.sub.1 to C.sub.7 alkyl, phenyl or phenyl bearing methyl as a substituent;X is cyano, carbamoyl or substituted carbamoyl;R.sup.1 is hydrogen or an aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, araliphatic or aromatic radical;R.sup.2 is hydrogen or an aliphatic, cycloaliphatic or araliphatic radical;R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 independently of one another have the same meanings as R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 ; andR.sup.1 --n--r.sup.2 and R.sup.3 --N--R.sup.4 independently of one another are saturated heterocyclic radicals.

Dyes having the formula: ##STR1## IN WHICH D is the radical of a diazo component; and A is the radical of a pyrimidine coupling component bearing two unsubstituted or substituted amino groups as substituents. The dyes are eminently suitable for dyeing natural and synthetic polyamides; brilliant colorations are obtained.

Heavy metal complexes of azo dyes of the formula ##STR1## wherein D is the radical of a diazo component of the benzene or naphthalene series that carries the group --[CO].sub.p-1 OH in ortho-position to the azo group, p is 1 or 2, X.sub.1 is an unsubstituted or substituted amino, alkoxy, aryloxy, alkylmercapto, arylmercapto or aralkoxy group, X.sub.2 is an unsubstituted or substituted amino group or a low molecular alkyl radical, X.sub.3 is an unsubstituted or substituted amino group and Y is a cyano or carbonamido group, said azo dyes of the formula (1) containing at least one of the following groups: a sulpho or sulphonamido group, a sulphonamido group which is substituted by low molecular alkyl, phenyl or phenyl which carries non-ionogenic substituents, a low molecular alkylsulphonyl group or a phenylsulphonyl group which is unsubstituted or substituted by non-ionogenic substituents.

2,3,6- AND PREFERABLY ALSO 4-SUBSTITUTED PYRIDINE DERIVATIVES BEARING THE RADICAL OF AMMONIA OR A PRIMARY AMINE IN THE 2- AND 6-POSITIONS. The compounds are eminently suitable as coupling components for the production of azo dyes, the coupling taking place in the 5-position.

A basic azo dyestuff, which is free form acid groups conferring solubility in water, of the formula ##STR1## wherein two radicals Z represent groups of the formula --NR'R" and one radical Z represents a group of the formula --NR'R", --OR'" or --SR'", wherein R', R", and R'" each represents hydrogen, aryl, cycloalkyl or an aliphatic radical and R' and R" are able to form a ring containing the amino nitrogen and the radicals --NR'R" may be the same or different, R is alkyl, substituted alkyl or cycloalkyl, n is 1 or 2, Y represents a radical of the formula --CN or --CONH.sub.2, and D represents the radical of an aromatic or heterocyclic diazo component, and wherein at least one radical Z and/or D contains a basic, optionally cationic group. These dyestuffs are useful for dyeing and printing synthetic fibers to produce intensive and level dyeings with good fastness to light and general fastness properties.
Abstract:
Azo dyestuffs free of sulphonic acid groups and carboxylic acid groups are prepared by coupling a diazo compound with a coupler which is prepared by reacting an organic amine with a pyridinium salt having the formula ##STR1## IN WHICH R is substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, cycloalkyl, aralkyl or aryl; andR.sub.1 is substituted or unsubstituted alkyl or aralkyl. The dyestuffs are suitable for dyeing and printing synthetic materials such as polyolefines, polyvinyl compounds, cellulose acetate and triacetate and polyesters to give yellow to blue dyeings and prints with good fastness properties especially to light and sublimation.

Azo dyes containing sulfonic or carboxylic acid groups and having a substituted 2-hydroxypyridone-(6) as coupling component. The dyes are particularly valuable for dyeing natural or synthetic polyamides.
D R A W I N G WHEREIN R represents an aromatic radical which may contain one or more further azo groups, M represents H or a metal atom forming part of a metal-complex system in the dyestuff, R1 represents an alkyl group or a phenyl radical which may be substituted, e.g., by lower alkyl, lower alkoxy or chlorine, R2 represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl, aralkyl or cycloalkyl group or a phenyl radical which may be substituted, e.g., by lower alkyl, lower alkoxy or halogen, and R3 represents a hydrogen atom, a heterocyclic radical containing a cellulose-reactive substituent, or the acyl radical of an organic carboxylic or sulphonic acid which may or may not contain a cellulose-reactive substituent are valuable dyestuffs for a variety of substrates. For example those containing SO3H groups and a fiber-reactive group are valuable for dyeing and printing of cellulose polyamide and wool textile materials while those which are free from complex metal groups and sulphonic acid groups may be used as disperse dyestuffs.
