摘要： A safety apparatus of a piezoelectric lighter includes a pressure absorbing device disposed in a cap cavity of a casing of the piezoelectric lighter, a holding means integrally affixed to an interior surface of a thumb-push cap for rigidly holding one end of the pressure absorbing device in position, and a receiving means provided in the cap cavity for receiving and supporting another end of the pressure absorbing device in position. Therefore the pressure absorbing device is vertically held between the thumb-push cap and the ceiling of the casing for urging the thumb-push cap at an upper normal position thereof and providing an additional press resistance to the thumb-push cap, so as to resist a downwardly press force applied by an under age child on the thumb-push cap while an adult is capable of pushing down the thumb-push cap easily.

摘要： The invention relates to a spark wheel type gas lighter comprising a lighter body, a reservoir, a valve permitting gas to leave the reservoir, an ignition system comprising a pyrophoric flint co-operating with a spark wheel and a spring maintaining the flint against the spark wheel, a lever pivotally mounted on an axis essentially parallel to the axis of rotation of the spark wheel and co-operating with the valve and the axis of the lever is mounted movably with respect to the body of the lighter between an active position permitting the operation of the valve mounted on the reservoir and a rest position in which action on the lever does not permit operation of the valve, the spark wheel can be displaced with respect to the body of the lighter, and operate the lever in its movement, and elastic means act on the lever and/or on the spark wheel to return them to a position of rest in which the lever does not act on the valve. The body of the lighter may comprise two oblong openings, each receiving a spindle of the pivoting lever which are `V` shaped, the point of the `V` being located next to the spark wheel and in that the spindles of the pivoting lever are located at the level of the point of the `V` in the rest position of the lever, and at the level of the end of the branch of the `V` located next to the valve in the active position of the lever. The pivoting lever comprises an abutting face which acts against a counter-abutting face integral with the body of the lighter when the lever is in its rest position, thus preventing pivoting of the lever, and does not abut in the active position of the lever, thus permitting pivoting of the lever and operation of the valve.

This lighter is characterised in that each operating wheel is independent of the spark wheel and can pivot about its own axis independently of the spark wheel, and in that the axle is fixed to the spark wheel and comprises on its periphery zones which are concave and/or convex in transverse cross section, whereas the operating wheel comprises, in the region of its holes which enables its engagement on the axle, convex and/or concave zones, which are formed to slide with respect to the concave and/or convex zones of the axle when the force exercised on the operating wheel to ignite the lighter is below a threshold force, but engage with them when the force exercised is above the threshold force, and the largest cross sectional dimension of the axle is less than the smallest cross sectional dimension of die hole of the operating wheel, to permit the significant radial displacement of the operating wheel with respect to the axle and, below the said threshold force to permit the aid pivoting movement of the operating wheel with respect to the axle.

The lighter is normally maintained in a position that prevents depression of the actuator through the incorporation of a mechanism that increases the difficulty of operation. The safety mechanism requires a tilted displacement in order to allow full depression of the actuator and activation of an ignition means. When the mechanism is so displaced through the application of force by a user, it cannot remain displaced without continuous application of such force and will return to the normal, blocking, position when the force is removed.

摘要： A child resistant lighter device is disclosed which includes a body defining reservoir for containing a combustible gaseous medium such as butane, and having a valve arranged to be selectively actuated between a normally closed position and an open position which permits the exit of the gaseous medium. Such child resistant lighter can selectively produce sparks at a location proximate to the gaseous medium exit to ignite the gaseous medium, and a safety mechanism prevents actuation of the valve to the open position when sparks are produced. Such child resistant lighter device embodies a resiliently releasable safety latch which prevents the actuation of the valve actuator to the open position. The safety latch is selectively movable to a position out of interference with the valve actuator, so that the gaseous medium may be released and ignited by the sparks. The safety latch is resiliently structured and mounted such that once a flame is produced and the valve actuator is released, the safety latch returns to its closed or locked position to prevent actuation of the valve actuator to the open position by prevention of the pivotal motion. To "re-use" the lighter, the safety-latch must again be moved to the open or unlocked position so that the valve actuator can be opened for subsequent ignition of the gaseous medium. Such mechanism is difficult for a young child to light, but is capable of actuation by adults.

摘要： An ignition safety device of a gas lighter. In an embodiment, the safety device comprises at least one protrusion provided on the ignition roller unit of the lighter. The protrusion may be formed on the knurled outer surface of the rolling shaft or on the rolling flanges of the roller unit. In another embodiment, the safety device comprises a transverse rod extending from one rolling flange toward the other rolling flange such that it crosses over the rolling shaft between the rolling flanges. One end of the transverse rod is connected to the inside surface of the one flange but the other end of the transverse rod is spaced apart from the inside surface of the other flange. The safety device provided on the ignition roller unit prevents more rotation of the rolling shaft when the rolling shaft has been rotated at a predetermined rotating angle and ignited the gas out of the nozzle. In order to return the ignition roller unit to a rotatable position, the roller unit is simply rotated in reverse direction such that the safety device is sufficiently spaced apart from the flint support column of the lighter body.

摘要： A safety device in a gas lighter to prevent release of gas fuel stored in the lighter when a safety button is in a locked position to thereby prevent ignition of the lighter, and to allow release of gas fuel when the safety button is moved from the locked position to an unlocked position. An indentation in the safety button coacts with an end portion of a housing of the lighter to releasably retain the safety button in the unlocked position when moved there by a user's finger. Projections provided on the underside of a gas-release button guide the safety button's movement between the locked and unlocked positions and releasably retain the safety button in the unlocked position. The safety button is moved from the unlocked to the locked position when the gas-release button is released after ignition of the lighter.
