    摘要： A packaging material for foodstuffs comprises a sheet material having on the rear face a water-based or water-borne cold seal adhesive applied thereto without a primer coat and on the front face a water-based or water-borne overprint varnish applied over the printed matter. The cold seal adhesive is applied to chosen areas of the rear face by conventional means and then dried.The cold seal adhesive may suitably be a combination of one or more cohesive latex materials such as synthetic rubber emulsions or butyl or nitrile rubber emulsions but more particularly natural rubber latex, combined with a water-based or water-borne synthetic coating resin, particularlya polyamide resin emulsion or dispersionan acrylic resin emulsion or dispersiona polystyrene resin emulsion or dispersiona polyester resin emulsion or dispersiona polyvinylidene chloride resin emulsion or dispersionor a combination of any of the above emulsions or dispersions with each other or witha polyvinyl ethylene emulsiona polyvinyl alcohol emulsiona polyvinyl acetate emulsiona carboxy methyl cellulose solution in waterwith or without the addition of waxes or antifoam agents.The sheet material is normally wound up on a reel for storage purposes, with the result that the rear face comes into contact with the front face. However it is one of the principal features of the present invention that the overprint varnish prevents damage to the printed matter and prevents the two faces adhering together during storage despite the conditions of pressure and ambient temperature found in the reel; and when the sheet material is unwound from the reel, the overprint varnish allows release of the rear face bearing the cold seal adhesive without blocking.

    摘要： An index system for indexing directories such as telephone books includes a paper guide strip positioned adjacent a film plastic tab strip segmented into a plurality of uniquely identified tabs spaced along the tab strip. The guide and tab strips are coupled to one another along adjacent edges by means of an adhesive transfer strip extending the length of the guide and tab strips along the junction thereof on one side. As tabs are removed for application, the pressure-sensitive adhesive is transferred to the tabs while the guide and transfer strips serve as a guide for positioning the tabs on the pages of the directory.

    摘要： A bifunctional label storage card including a carrier member with pressure-sensitive adhesive labels stored on one of its surfaces and a hinge member detachably joined to the opposite surface of the carrier member, the carrier member being separable into two portions along at least one zone underneath portions of the labels stored thereon and the hinge member also being separable into at least two portions, so that a portion separated from the carrier can be hinged backwardly to expose an end of labels stored thereon or, alternatively, a portion of the carrier member and a portion of the hinged member can be separated from the balance of the structure for withdrawal of labels from the card and then precisely replaced to provide continued protection against soiling or other damage to the adhesive of any unused labels.
