摘要： In the apparatus a workpiece is rotated in a fixed position about an axis. A template is aligned with and spaced to one side of this axis. A platform is positioned above the workpiece and hinged on the other side of the axis so that it can be pivoted and thereby raised and lowered relative to the workpiece. The platform can also be caused to move along the axis of the workpiece and as this occurs, a tracing pin on the platform causes the platform to be raised and lowered in response to changes in the upper contour of the template. A rotary saw or like rotary cutting blade device is mounted on the platform above the workpiece so that the cutting blade can be brought into contact with and moved along the upper portion of the rotating workpiece to cause the workpiece to be shaped. Preferably the blade and the workpiece rotate in the same direction so that they are moving in opposite directions at the point or zone where they contact each other.

摘要： A lathe for cutting wooden spindles comprising a rectangular pattern board on which is mounted a pattern spindle and which contains end slots for adjustably positioning the pattern board closer to the work spindle when it is desired to have a product relatively smaller than that of the pattern. Parallel to the pattern and work spindles, is a cutting unit support in the form of a track, also parallel to the spindles, on which is slidably mounted, a tool carrier housing which rigidly supports a tool carrier in the form of a carriage. The carriage is propelled in either direction on a screw-threaded rod parallel to the cutting unit support. At one end of the threaded rod, a handle is provided which drives a train of gears so as to turn the threaded rod at high speed in either direction. The other end of the threaded rod is provided with a handle for directly rotating the threaded rod at low speed. A reciprocable support contained in the tool carrier has, at one end, a pattern follower and, at the other end, a tool for cutting the rotating work. The parts are of standard construction readily available in hardware stores and are very few as compared to prior lathes, making the lathe very inexpensive and affordable by the average home dweller.

摘要： A safety tool rest for a lathe having a rotating workpiece is disclosed. The tool rest includes a generally planar base which is attachable to the lathe. An elongate flange projects upwardly and outwardly from the base and has an upper edge which is disposed adjacent the rotating workpiece. A tool for cutting the workpiece rests on top of the upper edge of the flange. An elongate bar is attached to the base but is located above the base at a height higher than the upper edge. In this manner, the tool is inserted below the bar and over the upper edge for cutting the workpiece. The tool is prevented from being flipped about the upper edge during contact with the rotating workpiece by the bar. Preferably, the bar is vertically adjustable relative to the base to accommodate different sized tools. This adjustment is provided by two threaded bolts which pass through the bar and engage the base. A spring is provided around the bolts to urge the bar away from the base.

摘要： An adjustable Violin Peg and Dowel Shaving Device capable of shaving a tapered or non-tapered peg or dowel from a size substantially that of a full size cello peg down to almost the size of a toothpick with only one adjustment. The device comprises two guide bolts each extending along an axis through bores in two substantially rectangular blocks, the first block being secured to the guide bolts and having a V-shaped groove in one side facing the second block, and whereby the second block is movable along said guide bolts having a taper adjusting cutterblade mounted thereon. Two adjusting nuts threadedly received by said guide bolt ends rotatably advance said movable block toward said V-shaped groove which accommodates a peg or dowel for shaving.

摘要： An apparatus for replicating three-dimensional articles which comprises a frame means for supporting, in parallelly disposed relationship, the article to be replicated and a blank workpiece. A parallelogram working frame is supported on the base frame means, with the parallelogram working frame being arranged for both longitudinal and transverse motion. The parallelogram working frame supports and carries a motor driven cutter assembly, and the cutter assembly includes a cutter head which is rotatably driven along a certain working axis. A laterally spaced stylus is provided for making contact with the surface of the article to be replicated. The parallelogram working frame carries a counterweight at the end opposed from the cutter assembly so as to accomplish ease of positioning, adjusting, and maintaining the cutter assembly in operative disposition. The apparatus further carries means for rotating the article to be replicated and the blank workpiece, with the arrangement being particularly adapted for replicating articles fabricated from wood, such as gun stocks and components of furniture.

摘要： A cutting tool for wood turning lathes comprises a unitized elongated bar-like assembly which is operated in a vertical plane without the need for the customary tool rest. Control and safety are enhanced. The cutting tool has an adjustable rocker foot at its lower end enabling the height of the tool cutting bits to be adjusted relative to the turning work. A bit holder containing plural circumferentially spaced bits is locked removably between two body members and it is merely necessary to rotate the cutting tool on its longitudinal axis for bringing a new bit into engagement with the work.
