摘要: A synchrocyclotron for extracting charged particles accelerated to an extraction energy includes a magnetic unit comprising N valley sectors and N hill sectors, and configured for creating z-component of a main magnetic characterized by a radial tune of the successive orbits. The synchrocyclotron includes a first instability coil unit and a second instability coil unit configured for creating a field bump of amplitude increasing radially. The amplitude of the field bump may be varied to reach the value of the offset amplitude at the average instability onset radius. The offset amplitude may be the minimal amplitude of the field bump at the average instability onset radius required for sufficiently offsetting the center of the orbit of average instability onset radius to generate a resonance instability to extract the beam of charged particle at the average instability onset radius.

摘要: An example particle accelerator includes the following: a voltage source to provide a radio frequency (RF) voltage to a cavity to accelerate particles from a plasma column, where the cavity has a magnetic field causing particles accelerated from the plasma column to move orbitally within the cavity; an extraction channel to receive the particles accelerated from the plasma column and to output the received particles from the cavity; and a regenerator to provide a magnetic field bump within the cavity to thereby change successive orbits of the particles accelerated from the plasma column so that, eventually, particles output to the extraction channel. The magnetic field is at least 6 Tesla and the magnetic field bump is at most 2 Tesla.

摘要: System includes a target assembly having a production chamber. The target assembly includes an electrode and a conductive base exposed to the production chamber. The target assembly has fluidic ports that provide access to the production chamber. The system also includes a fluidic-control system having a storage vessel and fluidic lines that connect to the fluidic ports. The storage vessel and the production chamber are in flow communication through at least one of the fluidic lines. The system also includes a power source that is configured to be electrically connected to the electrode and the conductive base. The production chamber, the electrode, and the conductive base form an electrolytic cell when an electrolytic solution is disposed in the production chamber. The power source is configured to apply voltage to the electrode and the conductive base to deposit a solid target along conductive base.
