    Abstract: A calender for the treatment of web-like materials, including a fixed structure adapted to support two heated rollers shaped to be connected to the fixed structure, to a drive unit and to a heating system. The calender includes automatic elements for engaging and respectively for disengaging the rollers to and from the fixed structure, the drive unit and the heating system; the automatic elements are controlled by a programmable control unit and each of the rollers has an engaging surface shaped to be engaged by mechanical elements for moving the rollers which move the rollers between the calender and one or more waiting or parking stations while the rollers are at a temperature between 50° C. and 200° C.

    Abstract: A cutting machine for the transversal cutting of logs of paper material, including a cutting unit, at least one sharpening unit with two grinding wheels and a device for positioning the grinding wheels. The device includes a primary carriage and two secondary carriages. The primary carriage has a surface arranged at a predetermined distance from the plane of the blade and forming a surface for controlling the run of the secondary carriages. In a first step of positioning the grinding wheels, the secondary carriages bring the abrasive side of the grinding wheels into contact with the surface. In a second step, the secondary carriages bring the abrasive side of the grinding wheels to the plane. In a third step, the primary actuators move the primary carriage until the abrasive side of the grinding wheels contacts the blade.

The support element (4,5,8) allows the tube (1) to slide along a predetermined direction (A) parallel to its axis longitudinal (x) and to rotate about the same axis, and the carriage (7) is adapted to move bidirectionally the blade (6) parallel to the longitudinal axis (x) of the tube (1). The support element (4,5,8) has, where the cutting unit (CU) is arranged, apart (5) movable from and towards the blade (6) to maintain the tube (1) spaced from the latter and, respectively, for approaching the tube to the same blade (6) during a cutting phase.

    Abstract: Method for the handling of parent reels in paper converting plants, comprising the following steps: (a) providing at least one platform with a base adapted to support a parent reel in a waiting station and at least one unwinder (S) adapted to receive said reel in an unwinding station where the parent reel is unwound; (b) positioning a parent reel (1) on the platform at the waiting station; (c) transporting the parent reel (1) along a predefined path from said platform to said unwinder (S) by means of a bridge crane (CP) equipped with movable arms (BC). The step (c) is preceded by a first step consisting in the temporary association of two pins (P) to the arms (BC) of the bridge crane (CP) and by a second step consisting in inserting the two pins (P) in two opposite bases of the parent reel (1) using the same arms (BC); and the step (c) involves the transport of the reel (1) along a path comprising at least one ascending or descending portion with the pins (P) thus inserted into the parent reel (1).
