    Abstract: A rewinding machine for producing paper logs by winding a paper web, comprising: elements for feeding a paper web along a predetermined path at a predetermined feeding speed; web pre-cutting elements; web winding elements; web sizing elements, with a pad adapted to cyclically apply glue by contact on the web, the pad being mounted on a pad-holder device connected with a corresponding actuator. The web sizing elements are arranged upstream of a web winding station. The pad-holder device is controlled such that, when the pad contacts the web, the pad is moved with a speed lower than the speed of the web along the respective feeding path so as to cause a prolonged contact of the pad with the web while the pad and the web move.

    Abstract: A dunnage conversion system includes a machine for converting a stock material into a strip of relatively lower-density dunnage, a coiling mechanism for winding the strip into a coil, a taping mechanism for automatically securing a trailing end of the strip to the coil, and a coil ejecting mechanism for automatically removing the coil from the coiling mechanism. The taping mechanism includes a guide surface between an outlet of the machine and the coiling mechanism to guide the strip to the coiling mechanism and to guide tape for engagement with a trailing end of the strip and to secure the trailing end of the strip to the coil. The coil ejecting mechanism includes a lever arm that pivots to push the completed coil off the coiling mechanism.

    Abstract: Carrier tape winding units and apparatuses of packing semiconductor package are provided. An exemplary carrier tape winding unit may include a carrier tape adhesion member attaching a front end of a carrier tape before winding or a cut back end of the carrier tape after a completion of winding the carrier tape to a winding reel. The exemplary carrier tape winding unit may further include a reel replacement member that automatically replaces the winding reel with another one after the completion of winding the carrier tape to the winding reel on a rotation axis by movement of a rotation axis and an axis support member in a direction. This direction is perpendicular to a transfer direction of the carrier tape toward the winding reel.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a system and method for transferring tissue reels. The system preferably incorporates nozzles that spray an adhesive directly onto moving tissue paper substrate, as opposed to applying adhesive directly to the reel, independent of machine speeds and basis weights of the substrate. Alternatively, the system of the present invention may also apply adhesive directly to the new reel as opposed to the tissue paper substrate. In the preferred embodiment, the new core or reel is brought up to substantially equivalent speed as the moving tissue paper substrate and placed into contact with the moving web of tissue. When the new reel is in place, the valves are activated thereby spraying adhesive across the width of moving tissue. The newly coated substrate sticks substantially immediately to the new core and cleanly tears away from the completed roll.

    Abstract: The present invention is directed to the welding of a trailing sheet tail on a roll of sheet material to an underlying layer of the sheet material on the roll to form a finished roll product ready for packaging. A device for effecting the welding comprises a thermally conductive, heat sealing disk mounted for rotation about an axis, and a heating element for heating an inner portion of the disk so as to cause thermal conduction through an outer portion of the disk towards an outer peripheral surface thereof. The heat sealing disk is mounted for engagement with the outer surface of the trailing sheet tail to weld this tail to the underlying layer of sheet material on the roll.
