    Abstract: A method and an apparatus are defined for displaying images on a flexible display in a head-mountable device (HMD). One or more flexible display devices may be inserted in the HMD. The one or more flexible display devices may be constrained by the HMD to take a particular curved form and wrap the field of view (FOV) of images displayed on the one or more flexible display devices for an improved user experience. The display surface of the one or more flexible displays may be divided in display areas, the display areas corresponding to a focus area and a peripheral FOV. Image processing may be differentiated features as a function of according to display area.

    Abstract: A significance-coefficient flag indicates whether a given quantized transform coefficient is equal to zero or not. To encode the significant-coefficient flags, context-based entropy coding can be used. To adapt to the characteristics of a video sequence, the context model is selected based on the statistics of the transform coefficients. In one embodiment, the non-zero probabilities of transform coefficients are compared to different thresholds to divide a transform block into several context regions, where all coefficients in a context region use the same set of context models. In another embodiment, the transform block is first divided into several context regions based on the positions of the transform coefficients, and the non-zero probabilities of transform coefficients are compared with a threshold to divide each context region into two sub-regions, where all coefficients in a sub-region share the same set of context models.

    Abstract: For the processing of an image with a tone-mapping function, it is known to select a tone-mapping function among a reference collection of reference tone-mapping functions and to apply the selected tone-mapping function to colors of this image. When applying this method to images of a video content, it is proposed to add, after such a selection for an image, a step of validation of this selection for the next images of video content. Advantage: prevent too frequent changes of tone-mapping function inside a video content, lower temporal instabilities and visual discomfort during visualization.

    Abstract: The present principles relate to a method and device for gamut mapping from a first color gamut towards a second color gamut. The method comprises, in a plane of constant hue, obtaining a target lightness for a color on the boundary of first gamut with maximum chroma, called first cusp color; and lightness mapping of the color from the first color gamut towards the second color gamut wherein the lightness mapped color is calculated from a parabolic function applied to the color, the parabolic function mapping the first cusp color to a color having the target lightness. According to a particular characteristic, a preserved chroma is also obtained; and in case the chroma of the color is lower than or equal to the preserved chroma, the lightness mapped color is the color, and in case the chroma of the color is higher than the preserved chroma, the lightness mapped color is calculated from the parabolic function applied to the color.

    Abstract: Different implementations are described, particularly implementations for selecting a predictor candidate from a set of multiple predictor candidates for motion compensation of a picture block based on a motion model. The motion model, may be, e.g., an affine model in a merge mode for a video content encoder or decoder. In an embodiment, a predictor candidate is selected from the set based on a motion model for each of the multiple predictor candidates, and may be based on a criterion such as, e.g., a rate distortion cost. The corresponding motion field is determined based on, e.g., one or more corresponding control point motion vectors for the block being encoded or decoded. The corresponding motion field of an embodiment identifies motion vectors used for prediction of sub-blocks of the block being encoded or decoded.
