Abstract:
A method and system is provided for dehydration of a gas phase and hydrate inhibition of a liquid hydrocarbon phase in a produced multiphase hydrocarbon fluid stream containing water, comprising the steps of: i) separating the hydrocarbon fluid stream into a liquid phase and a first gas phase; ii) adding hydrate inhibitor to the first gas phase; and iii) separating off condensed liquids and a second gas phase; wherein the first gas phase has a water dew point which is lower than that of the initial multiphase hydrocarbon fluid stream and the second gas phase has a lower water dew point than the first gas phase; characterised in that the hydrate inhibitor has a water content that is low enough to enable it to dry the first gas phase, said hydrate inhibitor being separated off with the condensed liquids in step iii) and mixed with a part or all of the liquid phase from the separation in step i) to inhibit said liquid phase.
Abstract:
A method for use in surveying a subsurface region beneath a body of water by detecting compressional, P, waves propagating through the body of water includes locating one or more sensor systems in the water at or close to the subsurface region, using the or each sensor system to detect P waves in the water, and translating all or a portion of the data representing the detected P waves to a higher level above the subsurface region. In the method, the effects of S waves, propagating in the subsurface and converted at the water/subsurface interface into P waves propagating in the water or along the seabed interface, in the translated data is reduced.
Abstract:
A method of solving a geophysical inverse problem for estimating a physical parameter, the method comprising providing a model vector representing the physical parameter, transforming the model vector by a first operator to provide a first transformed model vector, solve the inverse problem for the first transformed model vector to provide a first solution, transforming the model vector by a second operator to produce a second transformed model vector, solve the inverse problem for the second transformed model vector to provide a second solution, calculating a weighted sum of the first solution and the second solution.
Abstract:
There is described embodiments relating to a method of determining a wave field in an anisotropic subsurface of the Earth. The method includes numerically solving a decoupled quasi-acoustic single wave mode wave equation based on spatially varied anisotropic parameters, to determine the wave field in the anisotropic subsurface.
Abstract:
A method of sealing a well comprises creating one or more openings in a tubing installed in a wellbore, in a location for a well seal; using a wireline to locate a stinger in that location; setting the stinger in that location; and forming a seal in the well in that location, by injecting sealant through said stinger.
Abstract:
A sensor system for deployment on or close to the seabed in marine seismic surveys includes a central hub, and a plurality of arms coupled to the central hub. Each arm has a degree of freedom of movement with respect to the central hub. The system further includes at least one seismic sensor mounted to each of said arms.
Abstract:
Metal naphthenate is removed from a crude hydrocarbon mixture by a process. The process includes mixing the crude hydrocarbon mixture comprising metal naphthenate with an acid in the presence of water, wherein the acid converts the metal naphthenate to naphthenic acid and metal salt; allowing the metal salt to partition into a water phase; and separating the crude heavy hydrocarbon mixture comprising naphthenic acid and the water phase comprising the metal salt.
Abstract:
A method of completing a well which has a longitudinal axis along a direction with a horizontal component, the method comprising rotating a first string and moving the first string into the well along the longitudinal axis of the well, providing a swivel joint rotatably connecting the first string to a second string, moving the second string along the longitudinal axis of the well into the well, wherein the second string comprises completion equipment, moving the completion equipment into the well along the longitudinal axis of the well.
Abstract:
A method and system for dehydration of a gas phase and hydrate inhibition of a liquid hydrocarbon phase in a multiphase hydrocarbon fluid stream containing water. The method may include (i) separating the hydrocarbon fluid stream into a liquid phase and a first gas phase, (ii) adding hydrate inhibitor to the first gas phase, and (iii) separating off condensed liquids and a second gas phase. The first gas phase has a water dew point that is lower than the initial multiphase hydrocarbon fluid stream and the second gas phase has a lower water dew point than the first gas phase. The hydrate inhibitor has a water content that is low enough to enable it to dry the first gas phase, the hydrate inhibitor being separated off with the condensed liquids and mixed with a part or all of the liquid phase from the separation to inhibit the liquid phase.
Abstract:
A method of plugging a well includes providing a tubing in a wellbore, wherein in a location for a well plug, the tubing is provided with an internal cable section placed inside of the tubing and/or an external cable section placed outside of the tubing, the external cable section including a fluid-tight cable suitable for forming a sealing part of the well plug, and forming a plug in the well in the location for the well plug without pulling the tubing from the wellbore.
