Abstract:
Control circuitry is configured to control a sampler, in a sampling phase determination process, to sample a signal at a sampling period of T±T/n for outputting a sample set for each one of n phases of the sampled signal. Each one of n correlators has a first input configured to receive one of the sample sets, a second input configured to receive a PN signal, and an output which provides a correlation result from a correlation process between the sample set and the PN signal. The control circuitry is further configured to identify, from the correlation results, one of the phases associated with the optimal correlation result. The control circuitry is then configured to control the sampler, in a communication mode, to sample a received signal at a sampling period of T at the phase associated with the optimal correlation result.
Abstract:
A power management system and method for a wireless communication device generates an average desired transmit power signal based on at least one of a received signal strength indicator signal and a power control instruction signal from a base station. A power supply level adjustment signal is generated based on the data parameters of an outgoing data stream and at least one environmental information signal. A combination of the power supply level adjustment signal and the average desired transmit power or a gain control signal and an altered version of the power supply level adjustment signal is used to generate a variable power supply signal that is provided to an output amplifier block for sufficiently generating outgoing wireless device radio signals while reducing power loss in the output amplifier block.
Abstract:
A technique for controlling operation of a communication subsystem is described. The subsystem is set to a first wake-up mode of operation, during which a state value from the system is read and stored in memory. The subsystem is then set to a sleep mode of operation after the first wake-up mode of operation, and to a second wake-up mode of operation after the sleep mode of operation. The stored state value is then read from the memory, where the subsystem is set to operate based on the read state value during a warm-up period of the second wake-up mode of operation.
Abstract:
A system and method for obtaining a frequency error estimate representing the difference between a reference frequency and the frequency of a space-time transmit diversity signal is disclosed herein. The method includes taking the correlation of total sums, comprised of partial sums taken in defined first and second intervals, to represent the frequency error as the imaginary component of the correlation function.
Abstract:
The wireless communication device includes a wireless communication transceiver to generate an oscillator control signal and an activation signal, a positioning-system receiver (e.g. a GPS receiver) to process received positioning signals, and a shared oscillator (e.g. a temperature compensated and voltage controlled crystal oscillator TCVCXO) responsive to the oscillator control signal and to generate a reference frequency signal for the wireless communication transceiver and the positioning-system receiver. The positioning-system receiver may control processing of the received positioning signals based upon the activation signal to reduce a noise contribution (e.g. phase noise) due to frequency control of the shared oscillator based upon the oscillator control signal. The activation signal may indicate that the oscillator control signal is being varied to provide frequency control or adjustment of the shared oscillator.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for sharing viewing information is disclosed. In one embodiment, the method comprises receiving an designation of a second user from the first user; and transmitting the first user viewing information to the designated second user. The shared viewing information may comprise the identity of a currently viewed media program, a list of scheduled media program viewings, or the media program itself.
Abstract:
A mold includes upper and lower mold members and a machine control unit. The lower mold member includes a support board, a molding mechanism mounted on the support board, and an ejection mechanism. The support board forms a receiving compartment. The molding mechanism includes a mold cavity. The machine control unit is mounted in the receiving compartment of the support board and includes an optic sensor. With the arrangement of the optic sensor of the machine control unit, the mold can detect the returned and non-returned statuses of the ejection mechanism and transmits the result of detection to the molding machine of the mold, whereby the molding machine can be timely and correctly informed of the status of the ejection mechanism for correctly issuing a subsequent operation instruction. In this way, the potential risk that the mold is damaged by improper operation of the molding machine can be eliminated.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for navigating a media program is disclosed. Viewing data for segments of the media program are monitored and used to compile statistics that are presented to the user in a histogram, so that popular portions of the media program can be identified and navigated to. One embodiment includes a searchable transcript of the media program that is synchronized with the histogram.
Abstract:
Techniques for use in a mobile device for obtaining location information with use of a Global Positioning System (GPS) involve receiving, through a user interface of the mobile device, a voice call request for establishing a voice call; and in response to receiving the voice call request: comparing a selected telephone number of the voice call request with one or more predetermined telephone numbers stored in memory of the mobile device; if the selected telephone number matches one of the predetermined telephone numbers stored in the memory: prior to initiating the voice call, performing a GPS fix with the GPS system for obtaining the location information of the mobile device; if the selected telephone number fails to match one of the predetermined telephone numbers stored in the memory: refraining from performing the GPS fix for obtaining the location information of the mobile device prior to establishing the voice call; and initiating the voice call from the mobile device via a wireless network.
Abstract:
A peak to average power ratio signal is generated from a first mapping function that selects the peak to average power ratio signal that corresponds to the data rate or data format of the signal to be transmitted. The selected peak to average power ratio signal is summed with a desired average transmit power signal. The resulting summation signal is input to a second effectively continuously valued mapping function comprising a table that has a plurality of power amplifier control signal values each with a corresponding peak transmit power. Each peak transmit power signal value results in a power amplifier control signal value that achieves the best possible transmitter power efficiency while still meeting out of band spurious emissions and waveform quality requirements. The summation signal value maps to one of the power amplifier control signal value that is then used to adjust a parameter such as bias of the power amplifier.
