Abstract:
A dispensing valve assembly for dispensing a fluid product and preventing air from being drawn into the fluid product through the valve includes a flexible diaphragm valve (10, 50, 100) and a valve seat insert (12, 58, 102). The flexible diaphragm valve flexes from a concave closed position to a convex open position in which fluid product is dispensed through a dispensing opening (26, 56, 116) in the diaphragm. The valve seat insert is positioned adjacent an inside surface of the diaphragm valve in its closed position to prevent the valve from buckling inward and prevent air from passing into the fluid product through the valve.
Abstract:
A device for containing and delivering a payload from a container which has a closed end and an open end and at least one side wall extending between the closed end and open end, a lid secured to the open end having an orifice, a closure tab pivotally connected to the lid and closing the orifice, and an actuating member pivotally secured to the lid and being manually actuated for moving the closure tab into the interior of the container to open the orifice. The device includes a capsule disposed within the container for containing the payload. The device also includes a support structure disposed within the container and contacting the closed end, the device being held under compression solely between the closed end and the lid in response to a compressive force against the support structure by the container for securing alignment of the capsule with the orifice of the lid. The device further includes a guide on the support structure cooperating with the capsule for guiding the capsule to extend the payload through the orifice when the closure tab is deflected into the interior of the container to open the orifice.
Abstract:
A lock for use with an associated toilet having a rim portion and a generally outwardly oriented, depending surface, and having a seat cover thereon includes a releasably engageable receiving member and locking member. The receiving member has a housing and a pivotably connected mounting member. The mounting member is mountable to the rim portion of the bowl on the depending surface thereof. The housing includes at least one lock receiving element therein. The releasably engageable locking member has an elongated cover retaining element and at least one biased locking element. The locking element includes a releasing member thereon for releasing the locking member from the lock receiving element.
Abstract:
A method of manufacturing a two-section flag pole comprising a pointed lower section for planting into the ground and an upper section having a colored area and a numbered flag for establishing a target in a game of flying-disc golf. Each flag may be removed from or rolled over the pole and the pole can be disassembled for ease of storage. A threaded or snap-on quick-coupler is used to assemble the two sections of each pole, so that it may be easily and quickly installed at each selected target site. The flag poles can be manufactured entirely by utilizing standard-size tubing available for gardening applications.
Abstract:
An equipment shelf, for removably retaining circuit boards at selectably spaced locations in a system, includes side panels being connected in a spaced relationship one with another by extruded aluminum cross connecting members. A board slider retaining element in the form of an elongated polycarbonate strip is laterally and removably disposed in each cross connecting member. Each strip defines fastening locations, mounting orifices, being arranged in a predetermined pattern. Each of a plurality of board sliders is longitudinally fixed between a pair of the fastening locations, so that lateral spacings of circuit board positions in the equipment shelf are defined by the fastening locations. Lateral spacings of circuit board locations for a system are conveniently selectable by manufacture or choice of polycarbonate strips with an appropriate arrangement of the mounting orifices.
Abstract:
An infrared source that operates at about 1150.degree. C. without the need for water cooling. The source is configured with a small surface area radiating element, energized by a high frequency AC square wave. The frequency of the AC square wave is much greater than the inverse of the filament's thermal time constant so that the temperature is very stable. The radiating element is mounted relative to a concave reflector so that the infrared radiation forms a beam suitable for input to a spectrometer. In a first embodiment, the radiating element is in the form of a wire coil, while in a second embodiment, it is in the form of a cylinder having a central portion of reduced diameter.
Abstract:
A system is provided for transmitting data through an optical fiber. A beam of light is directed into the optical fiber. A plurality of selective wavelength filter-mirrors are interposed adjacent the optical fiber. Each of the filter-mirrors is operable to reflect only a selected color and to transmit other colors. Each of the filter-mirrors moves relative to the optical fiber in response to a variation of a selected parameter, to vary the quantity of light being reflected by the filter-mirror. Variation of different selected parameters causes movement of corresponding selective wavelength filter-mirrors and concomitant reflection of corresponding selected colors. The quantity and color of the light being reflected are detected by a plurality of selective wavelength transmission members. Each of the transmission members is operable to transmit only a selected color. The quantity and color of the light transmitted by each transmission member are sensed. The illustrative embodiment concerns an optical pressure catheter which transmits data utilizing the described system.
Abstract:
A water tight rubber glove covering hand, wrist, and mid forearm with scrub pads on top side of glove four fingers. A single pad cut and shaped to cover palm side of glove, four fingers, and bottom side of thumb. Five web pads made into the four fingers a thumb. The four webs are placed at the second bend of each finger to the third bend at bottom of finger. The thumb web is placed at second bend in the thumb to the crease of the thumb.
