    Abstract: A turbine rotor includes a base and a plurality of blades. The base and the blades curve such that radially outward portions of the base and the blades extend in a direction with a greater component in a radial direction than in an axial direction. Radially central portions of the base and the blade extend in a direction with the two components being closer. Radially inner sections of the base and the blades extend in a direction with a greater component in the axial direction than in a radial direction. There is a cooling channel arrangement in the turbine rotor. The cooling channel arrangement includes impingement cooling for a nose and serpentine passages for cooling sections of the platform circumferentially intermediate the blades, and distinct serpentine passages for cooling the plurality of blades. A turbomachine and method are also disclosed.

    Abstract: A header for a high-pressure heat exchanger includes a first high-pressure transition section with inlets for multiple first high-pressure flow channels that are spaced from one another in a radial direction and collectively arranged in a substantially circular shape. The inlets for the multiple first high-pressure flow channels on a radially outer edge of the first high-pressure transition section are spaced further apart in a circumferential direction from adjacent inlets of the multiple first high-pressure flow channels than radially inward inlets are spaced from adjacent radially inward inlets of the multiple first high-pressure flow channels. The header also includes multiple first high-pressure flow channels extending from the first high-pressure transition section to a second-high pressure transition section that is configured to divide each of the multiple first high-pressure flow channels into at least two first high-pressure sub-flow channels. Each flow channel of the multiple first high-pressure flow channels and each sub-flow channel of the first high-pressure sub-flow channels have a round cross-sectional shape.

    Abstract: A counterflow heat exchanger configured to exchange heat between a first fluid flow at a first pressure and a second fluid flow at a second pressure includes a first fluid inlet, a first fluid outlet fluidly coupled to the first fluid inlet via a core section, a second fluid inlet, and a second fluid outlet fluidly coupled to the second fluid inlet via the core section. The core section includes a plurality of first fluid passages configured to convey the first fluid flow from the first fluid inlet toward the first fluid outlet, and a plurality of second fluid passages configured to convey the second fluid flow from the second fluid inlet toward the second fluid outlet such that the first fluid flow exchanges thermal energy with the second fluid flow at the core section. Each first fluid passage of the plurality of first fluid passages has a circular cross-section.

    Abstract: A heat exchanger includes a heat exchanger body having a first end and a second end opposed to the first end along a flow axis. A plurality of flow channels is defined in the heat exchanger body extending axially with respect to the flow axis. A first set of the flow channels forms a first flow circuit and a second set of the flow channels forms a second flow circuit that is in fluid isolation from the first flow circuit. Each flow channel is fluidly isolated from the other flow channels. The flow channels all conform to a curvilinear profile.

    Abstract: A heat exchanger includes an external casing and a core. The external casing includes a first inlet, a first outlet, a second inlet, and a second outlet. The core includes an array of branched channels connecting the first inlet and first outlet, an inlet header, and an outlet header. The inlet header is integrally formed with and fluidly connected to the first inlet. The outlet header is integrally formed with and fluidly connected to the first outlet. The branched channels and the external casing define a fluidic passage. The array of branched channels includes a first split, a first juncture, a secondary split, a secondary juncture, and a subset of splits and junctures. The first split and first juncture are common to an entirety of the array of branched channels. The subset of splits and junctures route fluid through interconnections between fluidly parallel branched channels.
