    摘要: Disclosed is a liquid crystal display comprising a liquid crystal cell including a pair of transparent substrates, with orientation layers deposited on inner surfaces thereof, and a liquid crystal layer of liquid crystal material injected between the substrates; biaxial compensation films provided on outer surfaces of the liquid crystal cell, the biaxial compensation films including an optical dielectric material layer; and polarization plates provided on outer surfaces of the biaxial compensation films, wherein if “d” is set as a cell gap of the liquid crystal cell, “RLC” is set as a phase retardation value of the liquid crystal layer, an axis perpendicular to planes made by the substrates is set as a z-axis, x-axis and y-axis are formed on a planar surface of the substrates, and refractive indices of molecules comprising the biaxial compensation films in the x, y and z directions are denoted by nx, ny and nz, retardation values (ny-nx)*d and (nz-nx)*d of the biaxial compensation films being respectively within ranges of −30±5 nm and −RLC/4±15 nm.

    摘要: An OCB (Optically Compensated Bend) liquid crystal display in which impulse driving is performed such that an impulse data voltage is applied between normal data voltages used for displaying an image. The impulse data voltage is divided into a first impulse data voltage and a second impulse data voltage having a voltage value that will not break a bent alignment of the OCB liquid crystals. Referring to the application of the first impulse data voltage between the normal data voltages as first impulse driving and the application of the second impulse data voltage between the normal data voltages as second impulse driving, the second impulse driving is performed at every two or more of the first impulse drivings, so as to not break the bent alignment of the liquid crystals and to thereby improve luminance of the LCD.

    摘要: A substrate for an LCD panel includes an insulation substrate, a light-blocking layer, a color filter layer, a common electrode layer and a static electricity discharging layer. The light-blocking layer is formed on the insulation substrate to define a pixel region. The color filter layer is formed in the pixel region. The common electrode layer is formed on the color filter layer to provide the liquid crystal layer with a common voltage. The static electricity discharging layer discharges static electricity that is induced by an external stimulus to be captured within the substrate. Thus, when the static electricity induced by the external stimulus flows into the LCD panel, the static electricity may be discharged through the static electricity discharging layer, thereby preventing a spot due to the static electricity.
