摘要: A light-emitting tube array display device includes a light-emitting tube array, a flexible sheet and a plurality of electrodes. The light-emitting tube array is constituted of a plurality of light-emitting tubes arranged in parallel. Each of the light-emitting tubes consists of narrow tube having a phosphor layer disposed and discharge gas filled inside. The flexible sheet is capable of flatly supporting the light-emitting tube array and deforming the light emitting tube array in a direction perpendicular to a longitudinal direction of the light-emitting tubes. The plurality of electrodes are formed on a face of the flexible sheet opposed to the light-emitting tubes, which are capable of generating discharge inside the light-emitting tubes by an application of voltage. Each of the electrodes is formed of a metal film having a mesh pattern, a ladder pattern, or a comb-shape pattern.

摘要: A method for driving an AC type surface-discharge display device which has cells arranged in a matrix. Each of the cells has at least three electrodes including a pair of main electrodes on every line of the matrix and an address electrode on every column of the matrix. The method includes providing an address preparation period applying a charge producing pulse and applying a charge adjusting pulse. The charge adjusting pulse has a waveform monotonously falling from a reference potential and a negative polarity and is applied to the second main electrode used as a scan electrode and generates feeble electric discharges between the first and second main electrodes. The feeble electric discharges are accompanied by a decrease of the wall voltage formed by the charge producing pulse.

摘要: A light emitting string is produced by forming a fluorescent layer on a fluorescent layer support member having an opening and configured such as to protect the fluorescent layer, and inserting the fluorescent layer support member into a minute tube. Therefore, when the fluorescent layer support member is inserted into the minute tube, the fluorescent layer is prevented from contacting the interior wall of the minute tube. This prevents the chipping, the separation and the cracking of the fluorescent layer, thereby improving the yield in production of plasma light emitting strings.

摘要: A method for driving a plasma display panel is provided in which a time necessary for an addressing process is shortened without using any special driving component. The method comprises an addressing process that includes the steps of setting light emission operation of the cells of a display of one screen, starting j-th row selection at a point during (j-1)th row selection, and changing the data electrodes from a control state corresponding to display data of the (j-1)th row to a control state corresponding to display data of the j-th row during a period in which the (j-1)th row selection and the j-th row selection are overlapped with each other.

摘要: A display apparatus permitting high resolution and a large number of gray-scale levels and causing indiscernible flicker has been disclosed. One frame is divided into or composed of j subframes, and light is produced according to a luminance level predetermined subframe by subframe in order to express intermediate gray-scale of a picture. Emphasis is put on the fact that display to be performed during each subframe within one frame can be controlled independently. An interlaced-scanning display is carried out during k subframes associated with low-order weighted bits out of j subframes, and a noninterlaced-scanning display is carried out during the other j-k subframes associated with high-order weighted bits. The ratio of an addressing scan time to a subframe associated with a small weight is large, and the ratio of an addressing scan time to a whole frame is very large. If the addressing scan time can be reduced as mentioned above, a great effect would be exerted. Moreover, the luminance levels to be determined in relation to the subframes during which interlaced-scanning display is carried out are so low that the influence of the reduction on a whole picture is limited.
