In response to a positional relationship (distance, or a combination of distance and angle) between an information output unit and a user who uses information displayed in the display unit, a control unit changes the amount of information to be displayed in the display unit based on an information level, the number of pieces of information, a scrolling speed or a cycle. In some aspects, the control unit controls the information output unit to increase the amount of information to be output when the user is close to the display unit.

A system for providing a service from a service-providing device to a client device is provided. In the system, the service-providing device includes a database, a registering unit, a providing unit, a service end judging unit, and a service terminating unit. The client device includes a usage registration unit that transmits the registration request signal to the service-providing device if a user input requesting a usage registration for a service to be received is received through an operation unit of the client device, obtains from a user the setting information relating to the service to be received, and transmits the setting information obtained from the user to the service-providing device, a setting information storing unit that copies the setting information, which the usage registration unit transmits to the service-providing device, to save the setting information in a storage unit of the client device, a function executing unit that executes a predetermined function relating to the service provided from the service-providing device and caused by an operation of the usage registration unit, a detecting unit that detects a service terminated by the service-providing device, from among services for which the usage registration has been made through the usage registration unit, and a re-registration unit that reads out the setting information corresponding to the terminated service from the memory if the terminated service is detected by the detecting unit, and transmits the setting information along with the registration request signal to the service-providing device to make a usage registration for the terminated service.

The service providing device includes a service provision executing unit that provides the service to the device when the service providing device receives the request from the service request unit, and a function judging unit that judges whether the device is equipped with a function to receive the service provided by the service provision executing unit based on equipped function information that indicates functions for which the device is equipped.

The file transmitting device includes a file storage configured to store files to be laid open, and a communication system. The file transmitting device can communicate with the external device through a network. Each segment of the character outline is represented by coordinate data sets representative of coordinate values defining the segment, and attribute flag data indicative of whether the segment is a straight line or a curved line. The outline data memory includes a first storage area storing a plurality of groups of coordinate data sets for respective different outlines (such as regular and boldface outlines) of each character which define respective different stroke widths of the character, and a second storage area storing a common groups of attribute flags which is commonly used for the plurality of groups of coordinate data sets.

A data converting apparatus having a memory for storing original outline data indicative of an outline of each stroke of a plurality of characters, which characters include characters each having at least one special stroke whose outline consists of ordinary segments, and a special chain of segments which defines a specific pattern. The original outline data indicative of the outline of the special stroke include ordinary segment data representative of the ordinary segments and special segment data indicative of the special chain of segments. The apparatus includes a generating device for generating a group of segment chain data representative of all the segments of the special chain of segments, based on the special segment data, and further includes a device for outputting normal outline data consisting of the ordinary segment data of the original outline data, and the group of segment chain data generated by the generating device. The special segment data preferably include data used for converting basic pattern data into the segment chain data.
