摘要: A focal-length adjusting unit for photographing apparatuses includes a distance-measuring means for detecting the amount of defocus to an object by using a light beam of the object passing through a photographing optical system; at least two optical elements located in an optical path for distance measurement, deflecting incident light from the object to introduce the light into an image sensor or a distance-measuring sensor; a variable optical-property element constituting at least one of the optical elements, capable of changing the deflection of light in accordance with an applied voltage or an applied current; and a voltage applying means or a current applying means for applying a voltage or a current in accordance with the distance-measuring output of the distance-measuring means. In this case, before a distance measurement is made by the distance-measuring means, the function of light deflection of the variable optical-property element is set to a predetermined value.

摘要: The invention provides an optical apparatus enabling diopter adjustment, etc. to be achieved using, for instance, a reflection type variable-optical property optical element or a variable-optical property mirror but without recourse to any mechanical moving part. The variable-optical property mirror 9 comprises an aluminum-coated thin film 9a and a plurality of electrodes 9b. Via variable resistors 11 and a power source switch 13 a power source 12 is connected between the thin film 9a and the electrodes 9b, so that the resistance values of the variable resistors 11 can be controlled by an operating unit 14. The shape of the thin film 9a as a reflecting surface is controlled by changing the resistance value of each variable resistor 11 in response to a signal from the operating unit 14 in such a manner that the imaging capability of the variable mirror is optimized.

摘要: An image fiber includes plural kinds of cores and a common cladding containing the cores, which are arrayed so that no similar cores are adjacent one another. A method of making the image fiber is that a plurality of optical fiber elements having cores of different diameters are arranged so that no similar cores are adjacent one another, and after being inserted in a jacket pipe, are heated at a high temperature to fuse the cladding portions of the optical fiber elements so that the whole is drawn down to a desired thickness.

摘要: An image fiber has a plurality of optical fibers with normalized frequencies different from one another, which is constructed so that a plurality of cores different in size and shape from one another are distributed at random in a cladding. The optical fibers include at least two kinds of optical fibers having propagation modes different in number. Thus, the image fiber is capable of suppressing cross talk to prevent the degradation of image quality.

摘要: In order to enable to sufficiently deflect the viewing direction for a distal end having an end surface substantially perpendicular to the optical axis of an objective optical system and minimize aberrations produced due to the deflecting action, the objective optical system for endoscopes comprises at least one surface designed as a deflecting surface or an eccentric surface on the image side of the surface nearest the object to be observed out of the surfaces of the optical components composing the objective optical system so that the light is refracted at least twice for deflecting the viewing direction. In order to shorten total length and minimize outside diameter of the objective optical system and enable to sufficiently eliminate the infrared light incident from the object, the objective optical system comprises at least one optical component made of a substance absorbing the light having the oscillation frequency of the YAG laser light and interference films reflecting the light having the oscillation frequency of the YAG laser light formed on the cemented surfaces of the optical components and/or the surface of emergence of a rear group designed as a positive lens component.

摘要: An imaging apparatus is provided with a negative lens, a variable focussing lens unit including a material with an electrooptic effect, a light blocking unit, including the material with the electrooptic effect, capable of changing an aperture diameter, and a switch, interlocked with each other, capable of supplying electric power to the variable focussing lens unit and the light blocking unit which are arranged in order on an optical axis from an object side to an image side. When the switch is turned off, the variable focussing lens unit is set to bring an object at a far point into focus and the light blocking unit is set so that an aperture is determined by an aperture stop, while on the other hand, when the swtich is turned on, the variable focussing lens unit is set so that an object at a near point is in focus and the light blocking unit is set to be smaller in aperture. Apertures different in size are determined by a plurality of annular transparent electrodes incorporated in the light blocking unit and configured concentrically. Thus the imaging apparatus can be constructed to be small or compact in size and is easy in manufacturing.
