Whether to perform adjustment processing is determined based on determination of an image forming condition. If the feeding interval is changed to a wider one in the feeding interval changing step during image formation and it is determined in the determination step to perform adjustment processing, toner patch images are formed in an area where no toner image is formed on the photoconductor or intermediate transfer member. The adjustment processing is performed based on reading toner patch images.

A magnetic disk drive according to one embodiment of the present invention comprises a magnetic disk, a spindle motor for holding and rotating the magnetic disk, a magnetic head for writing/reading information to/from the magnetic disk, an actuator having the magnetic head mounted on one end thereof, for moving the magnetic head in a radial direction of the magnetic disk, and a circuit board having electronic components thereon. A connector for transmitting signals from the magnetic head to an external device is attached to a side of the circuit board close to the magnetic head.

A breather filter for a hard disk drive is attached to a hole provided in the cover of the disk drive. The breather filter has a first sheet that forms a diffusing tube at a position corresponding to the hole provided in the cover of the disk drive. The filter also has a second sheet forming an opening at a position corresponding to the diffusing tube of the first sheet. A third sheet of the filter has an adsorbent layer at a position corresponding to the opening in the second sheet. Finally, a fourth sheet, including a filter layer, covers the adsorbent layer of the third sheet and is stacked with each of the sheets.
