    摘要: On a recording medium, the version information indicating a version of the recording standard to which the information recording medium is adapted is recorded. Moreover, the normal recording condition information for recording information at a normal recording speed and the high speed recording condition information for recording the information at a higher recording speed than the normal recording speed are recorded. The recording condition information includes, for example, information about a write strategy for driving a laser light source. At the time of recording, the information recording device compares the version information on the information recording medium with the version information of the information recording device so as to judge whether or not the information can be recorded. When the judgment is made that the information cannot be recorded based on the version information, further the compatibility version information is compared with the version information of the information recording device so that a judgment is made as to whether or not the information can be recorded. In such a manner, the judgment can be properly made as to whether or not the recording can be executed on the information recording medium.

    摘要: An information recording device and method capable of forming a recording mark by suppressing thermal interference. The device applies a laser beam to a recording medium and forms a recording mark in accordance with a recording signal. The device includes a light source for emitting the laser beam, signal generation elements for generating a recording pulse signal according to the recording signal, and drive elements for driving the light source according to the recording pulse signal. The recording pulse signal has a mark period for forming the recording mark and a space period. The recording pulse signal makes the level in the entire space period equal to or shorter than a predetermined length and a part of the space period longer than the predetermined length to be off level. While the recording pulse signal is off level, the recording medium is cooled down, thereby suppressing the affect of thermal interference.

    摘要: Based on a recording signal, a recording pulse signal, which includes a top pulse located at a front end portion and having a first magnitude, a last pulse located at a back end portion and having the first magnitude, and an intermediate bias portion located between the top pulse and the last pulse and having a second magnitude, is generated. Based on the recording pulse signal, a light source is controlled, and a laser pulse is irradiated on a recording medium. Recording marks corresponding to the recording signal are formed on the recording medium. In generating the recording pulse signal, when the recording medium is rotationally driven, a position of the top pulse is shifted ahead of a position of the top pulse when the recording medium is rotationally driven at the first rotation speed, when the recording medium is rotationally driven at the second control speed.

    摘要: An error detector at a receiver comprises a feedback shift register. A shift direction in the feedback shift register is opposite to a shift direction at a transmitter in generating a transmission bit string by using a specified generator polynomial. A reception bit string is inputted to the feedback shift register in reverse order to the transmission bit string was generated at the transmitter so that errors in the reception bit string is detected by obtaining the remainder. Another error detector at a receiver comprises first and second feedback shift registers. Respective shift directions in the first and second feedback shift registers are the same as and opposite to a shift direction at a transmitter in generating a transmission bit string. The reception bit string is inputted to the first feedback shift register in the same order in which the transmission bit string was generated, while the reception bit string is inputted to the second feedback shift register in reverse order to one which the transmission bit string was generated. Errors in the reception bit string are detected by comparing respective remainders obtained by the first and second feedback shift registers. This reduces the processing time required for the error detection and increases efficiency in detecting errors in transmitted data.
