摘要: It is necessary to completely remove overlapping of signals between plural PONs in order to make the PONs coexist. Accordingly, it is required to share or intensively manage bandwidth use conditions over an optical fiber that serves as a common band between plural systems. Therefore, transmission clocks should be synchronized with high accuracy between plural systems. A reference clock is provided from an external device or a representative OLT to the entire systems to perform clock synchronization between plural systems, so that the overall systems are synchronized by synchronizing each OLT with the reference clock. A hierarchical management method is selected that manages ONUs under the control of each OLT by managing band use information arranged for each OLT with respect to an external device or a representative OLT for sharing of bandwidth use conditions between plural systems.

摘要: In an IP packet communication apparatus, an operation and maintenance function capable of monitoring a transmission path is provided to a layer used to process a packet, which corresponds to an upper layer of an optical network. As one method for applying the operation and maintenance function to the packet layer, in the case of IP over PPP over WDM, an operation/maintenance frame is defined to a PPP frame so as to realize the operation/maintenance function of a PPP connection. In the case that a plurality of connections are multiplexed on the same transmission path, a maintenance frame is conducted in order to operate/manage these connections by being grouped, so that a fault occurring in the optical network is monitored. As another method for applying the operation and maintenance function to the packet layer, an operation/maintenance frame is defined to an IP packet so as to realize an operation and maintenance function of an IP flow. Also, since a plurality of flows are multiplexed on the same transmission path, a management packet is defined to operate/manage these flows to be grouped, so that a fault occurring the in the optical network is monitored.

摘要: The dispersion compensator with an etalon and a mirror arranged in parallel or at a slight angle with respect to each other is constructed so that emitted light from a collimator is reflected by the etalon multiple times and then enters another collimator. The dispersion compensator also has dispersion compensating units that change temperature using a heater or equivalent in order to render the amount of dispersion variable. In addition, these dispersion compensating units are provided in multi-stage form, and the angle of the mirror, the amplitude reflectance of the etalon, and temperature are optimized to offer polygonal dispersion characteristics. This realizes a practical, variable dispersion compensator suitable for a wavelength division multiplex optical transmission system and capable of shifting a variable amount of dispersion to the plus or minus side.

摘要: To provide an optical transceiver module comprising an optical prism for optical communications which has mounting portions, a light emitting portion, light receiving portions, a substrate and a sub-mount that are used as the basis of the optical transceiver module, whose configuration is compact with reduced components which are accurately mounted.A sub-mount is provided on the substrate. The composite optical prism is formed with an optical lens provided with mounting supports and a wavelength division film in an integrated fashion. By using marks on the sub-mount for alignment, the composite optical prism can be mounted accurately on the sub-mount. In addition, the light receiving portions and the light emitting portion can be mounted accurately by using marks for alignment provided on the substrate and the sub-mount.

摘要: A resonator-type variable dispersion compensator is provided which is effective for practical use with a wavelength division multiplex transmission system. The dispersion compensator is constructed so as to shift a variable range to the plus or minus side according to the particular specifications of a transmission line. The dispersion compensator with an etalon and a mirror arranged in parallel or at a slight angle with respect to each other is constructed so that emitted light from a collimator is reflected by the etalon multiple times and then enters another collimator. The dispersion compensator also has dispersion compensating units that change temperature using a heater or equivalent in order to render the amount of dispersion variable. In addition, these dispersion compensating units are provided in multi-stage form, and the angle of the mirror, the amplitude reflectance of the etalon, and temperature are optimized to offer polygonal dispersion characteristics. This realizes a practical, variable dispersion compensator suitable for a wavelength division multiplex optical transmission system and capable of shifting a variable amount of dispersion to the plus or minus side.

摘要: The present invention provides a dispersion compensator applicable to a WDM optical transmission system and featuring low loss, wideband usage, and minimum ripple. The dispersion compensator is constructed so that the light emitted from a collimator will be reflected from an etalon of a 100% single-side reflectance by arranging the etalon and a mirror in parallel or with a slight angle and then enter another collimator. Elements for achieving variable dispersion compensation by changing temperature using a heater, for example, are also provided. In addition, these dispersion compensating elements are provided in multi-stage form and the angle of the mirror and the reflectance of the etalon are optimized. Thus, it becomes possible to realize a dispersion compensator applicable to a WDM optical transmission system and featuring low loss, wideband usage, and minimum ripple.
