Abstract: A network device associated with a wireless network receives a network service-related request from a user device. The network device accesses a service profile associated with the user device to determine if the service profile includes preemptive power saving mode (PSM) data that is designated for preempting any user device-requested or network-requested power saving modes at the user device. The network device allocates, if the service profile includes the preemptive PSM data, preemptive PSM timers to the user device based on the preemption PSM data. The network device sends, in response to the network service-related request, an acceptance message to the user device that includes the preemptive PSM timers for use by the user device in executing a power saving mode.

Abstract: A system described herein may provide a mechanism for efficiently delivering messages to a User Equipment (“UE”) associated with a wireless telecommunications network, such as a UE that is frequently in an inactive state. A message for the UE may be received and buffered. Once the network determines that the UE has transitioned from the inactive state to the active state (e.g., as detected by a Mobility Management Entity (“MME”) or an Access and Mobility Management Function (“AMF”)), the buffered message may be provided to the UE using control plane signaling.

The computer device may be further configured to select a number of base station cells to which the computer device is to send a paging message based on the determined paging policy and page the UE device using the selected number of base station cells.

Abstract: A method may include receiving, at an application server, a session initiation protocol (SIP) message including a public user identifier (ID) associated a user. The public user ID corresponds to a plurality of user devices. The method also includes determining an applicable order of alerting at least one of the plurality of user devices. The method further includes identifying at least one available user device associated with the user, based on a terminal identifier (ID) associated with each at least one available user device. The method also includes selecting a user device from the at least one available user device based on the applicable order of alerting. A SIP invite message, including a terminal ID for the selected user device, is generated. The method includes sending the SIP invite message to the selected user device based on the applicable order of alerting, and receiving a response to the SIP invite message.

Abstract: A computer device may include a memory configured to store instructions and a processor configured to execute the instructions to receive a service request from a user equipment (UE) device via a wireless access network; identify a Short Message Service Inter-Working Function (SMS-IWF) device associated with the UE device; and determine that the identified SMS-IWF device is associated with a link failure. The processor may further be configured to instruct the UE device to detach based on determining that the identified SMS-IWF device is associated with a link failure; receive a re-attach request from the UE device, in response to instructing the UE device to detach; and assign a functioning SMS-IWF device to the UE device, in response to receiving the re-attach request.

Abstract: A device may receive a request to establish a packet data network (PDN) session for a user device. The device may provide a first instruction to establish the PDN session for the user device with a temporary default bearer based on receiving the request. The temporary default bearer may be maintained for less than a duration of the PDN session. The device may receive an indication to release the temporary default bearer after providing the first instruction to establish the PDN session. The device may provide a second instruction to release the temporary default bearer and maintain one or more signaling sessions associated with the PDN session based on receiving the indication to release the temporary default bearer. The one or more signaling sessions, associated with the PDN session, may be maintained after the temporary default bearer has been released.
