Abstract: A system is configured to receive a search query for books; identify a set of books that are relevant to the search query, where the set of books may be associated with relevance scores that represent a relevance of the set of books to the search query and that are based on book quality information that is independent of the search query; determine that a reference to a first book should be prominently presented in a search results document, that includes references to the set of books based on a relationship between a highest relevance score, associated with the first book, and a second highest relevance score associated with a second book; generate the search results document, which may be formatted to prominently present the reference to the first book in relation to the references to one or more of the set of books; and transmit the search results document.

Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for protecting an electronic book from unauthorized access. HTML for the book is shredded by dividing it into portions, and a selection scheme is used to intersperse decoy data among the portions. Dynamically generated cascading style sheets are used to define a pattern for decoy and content data such that a browser on a client device correctly processes the HTML but an unauthorized program such as a web scraper cannot correctly process the HTML.

Abstract: A method is provided for screening for agents that affect protein degradation rates, the method comprising: taking a library of cells, the cells expressing a fusion protein comprising a reporter protein and a protein encoded by a sequence from a cDNA library derived from a sample of cells, the sequence from the cDNA library varying within the cell library; contacting the library of cells with a plurality of agents which may affect protein degradation rates; for each agent, selecting cells in the library which express short-lived proteins based on whether the cells have different reporter signal intensities than other cells in the library, the difference being indicative of the selected cells expressing shorter lived fusion proteins than the fusion proteins expressed by the other cells in the library; and characterizing the fusion proteins expressed by the selected cells for each agent.
