    摘要: An apparatus for providing an electrical connection from a power source, through a stationary door frame, into a door to connect to door-mounted electrically-operated hardware, includes an electrical junction box installed in a mortise cavity in the door frame adjacent to a similar electrical junction box installed in a mortise cavity in an edge of the door. The junction boxes are adjacent each other when the door is in a closed position; and a housing is installed in each junction box, each housing having a longitudinal slot in a face plate thereof of a length substantially equal to the length of the junction box. A cover plate is longitudinally slidably engaged in grooved fingers on a rear surface of the face plate, the cover plate having a substantially circular hole. A hollow tube, having an elbow swivelably mounted on each end, has one elbow swivelably engaged in the substantially circular hole of the cover plate of the housing mounted in the door frame and the other elbow swivelably engaged in the substantially circular cover plate of the housing mounted in the door. A conductor cable connected to a power source, in the junction box mounted in the door frame, extends through the elbows and the hollow tube into the junction box mounted in the door, and connects to leads to door hardware mounted in or on the door.

    摘要: An electromagnetic coil for use in a doorholder for retaining a door in an open position by magnetic interaction with an armature secured to the door includes a coil of wire for surrounding a core within a cup. A power control circuit including a resistor circuit, controls electrical power supplied to the coil, the power control circuit being mounted on a circuit board situated between the coil rear surface and the cup bottom. The resistor circuit being situated in sufficiently close proximity to the cup bottom for transfer of heat from the resistor circuit to the cup. The power control circuit also includes a low resistance circuit coupled to the resistor circuit, the low resistance circuit including a fusible link, the fusible link being selected to carry current when the power input terminals are coupled to a lower voltage power source and to stop carrying current when the power input terminals are coupled to a higher voltage power source.

    摘要: A latch assembly for a fire door having a pushpad for emergency exit is described. The pushpad is connected to a rod to transfer motion of the pushpad to the latch assembly. The latch assembly includes a platform attached to the fire door, a linkage assembly attached between the rod and a latch bolt, and a deadlock arm assembly attached to the platform. The deadlock arm assembly is movable between a first position to block movement of the linkage assembly and a second position to allow movement of the linkage assembly. A fire fuse assembly is also attached to the linkage assembly to move the deadlock arm assembly out of its first position blocking movement of the linkage assembly at normal room temperature. The fire fuse assembly is configured to melt at temperatures substantially above normal room temperature to prevent engagement between the fire fuse assembly and the deadlock arm assembly, effectively preventing movement of the deadlock arm assembly out of its first position blocking movement of the linkage assembly in response to movement of the rod.

When a key cylinder having an attached sweep arm is rotated, the sweep arm can alternatively rotate to engage the catch mechanism when a key is turned in the key cylinder, dogging the door latch assembly, or undog the catch mechanism from the arm by sweeping around to break the attachment between the arm and catch mechanism, allowing the door latch to move from its retracted position to its normally biased outward position with respect to the door latch assembly.

    摘要: The pinion is of two-piece construction, the two pieces being identical and nestably mated to define a recess, therebetween, which is interrupted by abutments, and which confines an abutment-engaging pin. Each piece has a plurality of teeth projecting therefrom, and the pieces are so mated that the teeth pluralities project form opposite sides of the formed pinion. A generally U-shaped rack, having teeth formed on the confronting surfaces of the parallel limbs thereof, is in mesh with the pinion, and the pin penetrates an input shaft upon which the pinion is mounted. As the shaft is turned in one direction, the pin drivingly engages the abutments of only one pinion piece, to cause the teeth of the latter to drive the rack in one, given direction. Too, if the shaft is turned in the opposite direction, the pin engages the abutments of only the other pinion piece, to cause its teeth to drive the rack in the same, one, given direction.
