摘要： An apparatus for dispensing a liquid onto a substrate including a horizontally-oriented manifold body having spaced apart front and rear surfaces and a lower surface extending between the front and rear surfaces. The lower surface is adapted to overlie at least a portion of the substrate. At least one dispensing module is mounted on the front surface of the manifold body and includes a discharge end for dispensing liquid onto the substrate. The discharge end is positioned proximate the lower edge of the front surface and the forward edge of the lower surface. The lower surface of the manifold body is angled in an upward direction generally from the front edge to the rear edge to progressively increase the distance between the lower surface and the substrate from front to rear when the front surface is vertically oriented and the substrate is horizontally oriented beneath the manifold body. The angled lower surface also facilitates substrates approaching the apparatus at a similar angle.

摘要： A method and apparatus for regulating backflow in a recirculation path coupling a three-way dispensing module with a liquid distribution manifold. The dispensing module and manifold are coupled together to provide a dispensing path for providing liquid from the manifold to the dispensing module for dispensing onto a substrate. A check valve positioned in the recirculation path ensures that liquid cannot flow from the recirculation path to the dispensing path as the dispensing valve of the dispensing module cycles from an open condition to a closed condition. This backflow prevention improves the accuracy of dispensed volumes of liquid.

摘要： A new and improved gear pump assembly, and a new and improved hot melt adhesive dispensing assembly having a plurality of the new and improved gear pump assemblies incorporated therein, wherein each gear pump assembly is mounted upon the dispensing assembly in an entirely independent manner such that each gear pump assembly can be individually removed from the dispensing assembly, and replaced back onto the dispensing assembly, as may be necessary in connection with, for example, repair or maintenance procedures. The independence of each gear pump assembly also effectively prevents damage to or failure of one gear pump assembly from experiencing additional damage as well as from adversely affecting the operation of the other gear pump assemblies. Furthermore, in view of the fact that a driven gear of each gear pump assembly projects radially outwardly through an end face of the gear pump assembly so as to operatively engage a common drive shaft of the applicator assembly, as opposed to having the common drive shaft of the applicator assembly pass through side portions or faces of all of the gear pump assemblies, not only is the aforenoted independent mounting of the plurality of gear pump assemblies upon the dispensing assembly facilitated, but in addition, the need for all external rotary dynamic shaft seals, normally necessarily provided between the common drive shaft and one of the gear members of each gear pump assembly, is eliminated.

Fluid material is caused to flow from the source of fluid material into the multiple orifice applicator. The fluid material enters the multiple orifice applicator through an inlet duct and is dispersed and spread out into at least one dispersing chamber. The fluid material is dispensed onto the work piece through a plurality of outlet orifices in the multiple orifice applicator.

摘要： An electrically operated fluid dispenser for dispensing a pattern of viscous fluid onto a substrate during a run mode. The dispenser is turned off and does not dispense the viscous fluid during a standby mode of operation. The dispenser includes a dispenser body having an outlet and an armature disposed in the dispenser body for movement between an opened position allowing a fluid flow from the outlet and a closed position preventing the fluid flow from the outlet. A coil is mounted adjacent the armature and selectively generates an electromagnetic field for moving the armature between the opened and closed positions. A controller includes different apparatus and methods for using the coil as a heater as well as providing other heat transfer devices on the dispensing valve to maintain a constant temperature either, during only the run mode or, during both, the run and the standby modes. The above dispensing valve heating control facilitates a design of an electrically operated fluid dispenser having a body with a fluid passage intersecting first and second sides of the body and a dispensing outlet in fluid communication with the fluid passage. The dispenser includes a heater and has feed member mounted to the first side of the body with one end of the fluid passage in the feed plate fluidly connecting with one end of the fluid passage in the dispenser body. The dispenser also has an cap mounted to the second side of the dispenser body to terminate the fluid passage on the second side of the dispenser body.
