In a preferred embodiment, the closure includes an outer cover having an indicator symbol window an indicator symbol carrier rotatably mounted in the outer cover with indicator symbols visible through the indicator window, a tooth and pawl for allowing one-way rotation of the outer cover relative to the indicator symbol carrier to allow the advancement of the window and an audible click as the pawl passes over a tooth to confirm proper advancement, lost motion mechanism for positively assuring the advancement of the window by one and only one indicator symbol upon each cycle, and a closure mechanism requiring the application of an axial force urging the closure toward the container while applying a rotational force to disengage the closure from the container.

    摘要： A pill dispenser having a rotatable cap with special opening means for dispensing a pill at the proper time for medication. The dispenser comprises a housing having openings corresponding to each time for medication in a repetitive cycle such as in a day or week. A rotatable indicator cap or lid has means cooperating with the housing to provide by a detent means stagewise movement and in a modification ratchet means for one way rotation. An opening in the cap is provided for view of indicia means on the top of the housing with a selected time for taking indicia. When the time for taking the pill arrives the cap is rotated to present a dispensing opening in registry with one of the housing openings for dispensing a pill. The indicator cap and a bottom fill cap may be press fitted on the bottle housing for simple fabrication and refilling the contents.

    摘要： An improved container for medications and the like includes a first section having therein a plurality of compartments with a second section mounted to the first section in overlying relationship to the compartments with the second section including mounting means permitting the second section to be indexed to any one of a plurality of positions relative to the first section. The second section has an opening therein to permit access to any one of the compartments after such section has been indexed to any one of the above mentioned positions. The container includes locking means for securing the second section at any one of the positions indicated above, the locking means including a catch means movably mounted to one of the sections and engageable with any one of several recesses provided in the other section. A manually operable device for effecting movement of the catch means to release same from the recess means is provided together with further means associated with the manually operable means including a portion movable from a first position wherein movement of the catch means to release same from the recess means is permitted, to a second position wherein movement of the catch means is prevented.

    摘要： A dispenser for oral medication which promotes patient compliance with prescribed treatment and dosage regimens. A housing has an opening formed therein through which may be viewed a plurality of individually defined compartments or wells within each of which are placed tablets or capsules corresponding to desired individual dosages. The plurality of compartments are arranged in a regular, preferably matrix, form so as to define a plurality of columns and rows of compartments which may respectively correspond to and be labeled with the particular day and time of day at which the individual dosages are desired to be dispensed. Means are provided for preventing manual accessability to all but a single day's worth of dosages. Each day's dosages may be successively selected by means of a child-proof advancing mechanism. The individual dosages within each day's dosages may be selected by the patient via a plurality of individual manually pivotable preferably transparent lids. The patient, pharmacist, and/or doctor may ascertain at a glance whether the desired treatment regimen has been complied with.
