    摘要: A battery tester capable of measuring resistance and voltage of a battery using the same input channel. When measuring battery resistance, a testing signal circuit is electrically coupled to two electrodes of a subject battery to conduct a testing signal used in the battery resistance measurement. A response sensing circuit of the battery tester is also electrically coupled to the two electrodes of the subject battery to measure a response signal across the two electrodes of the subject battery. A resistance measuring module is electrically coupled to the response sensing circuit to measure the battery resistance based on the response signal detected by the response sensing circuit. A circuit breaker is capable of disconnecting the subject battery from the testing signal circuit, and disconnecting the resistance measuring module from the response sensing circuit. Moreover, the battery tester can also provide automatic protection for the battery resistance measuring module.

    摘要: A high resolution data acquisition (DAQ) system is initially calibrated with a reference source having a resolution higher than the DAQ system. Measurements over the operating range of the DAQ system are taken, and characteristic calibration coefficients are determined from the measurements. Software corrections based upon the calibration coefficients are made to DAQ system measurements. A digital to analog converter (DAC) on-board the DAQ system having a lower resolution than the DAQ system is calibrated by generating a look-up table of input digital codewords and output electrical signals measured by the calibrated DAQ system. This look-up table is used to field calibrate the DAQ system using only the DAC, rather than the high resolution reference source.

    摘要: A four-wire ohmmeter connector includes a pair of elongated members spaced apart from each other by an interconnecting web. A pair of elongated contacts are mounted on forwardly projecting portions of each of the elongated members. An insulative housing surrounds the elongated members, contacts and web. The contacts mounted on one of the elongated members are connected through separate wires to a positive probe, and the contacts mounted on the other of the elongated members are connected through separate wires to a negative probe. The elongated members are inserted into respective terminal apertures of a four-wire ohmmeter. A pair of semi-cylindrical conductive sleeves are aligned with each of the apertures, and they make contact with and compress the respective contacts that are inserted into the aperture.

The housing has a probe connector oriented on a probe axis, so that a probe may be connected to the instrument via the connector for interfacing with a device under test. A removable battery cover encloses the battery compartment, and has a probe aperture registered with the probe connector, so that a probe may be connected when the battery cover is installed. To prevent removal of the battery cover when a probe is connected to the probe connector, the battery cover is constrained against movement along the probe axis. In addition, the battery cover may contain a conductive safety element necessary to complete a circuit between the battery and other components in the instrument, so that the batteries are capable of delivering power only when the cover is properly installed.
