    Abstract: A developing device includes a storage unit that stores developer to be used to form a developer image on an image carrier, the developer containing toner and carrier, an auxiliary storage unit that stores the developer and is connected to the storage unit via a first opening from which the developer is supplied into the storage unit and a second opening from which the developer in the storage unit is taken in, a first transport member provided at the first opening to transport the developer in the auxiliary storage unit into the storage unit, a second transport member provided at the second opening to transport the developer in the storage unit into the auxiliary storage unit, and a supply unit that has an opening opposed to the first transport member and supplies toner to the developer transported from the auxiliary storage unit into the storage unit.

    Abstract: A developing device and an image forming apparatus including the developing device are provided. The developing device includes a housing, a developer carrier which is rotatably supported by the housing, and which carries developer on a circumferential surface thereof, a layer thickness regulating member which includes, a blade contacting the circumferential surface of the developer carrier along a rotational axial direction of the developer carrier, and a support member supporting the blade, the layer thickness regulating member for regulating a layer thickness of the developer on the circumferential surface of the developer carrier. The support member includes: a contact part which contacts the blade; and a pair of attachment parts which are attached to the housing. The attachment parts are provide at both sides of the contact part in the rotational axial direction and are further protruded than the contact part in a direction away from the developer carrier.

    Abstract: A developing apparatus for developing an electrostatic latent image formed on an image bearing member includes a developer carrying member, first and second accommodation chambers to accommodate developer, and a feeding screw provided in the first accommodation chamber to feed the developer. In addition, a developer accommodation portion accommodates the developer to be supplied to the first accommodation chamber and is sealed by a sealing member. A controller executes an operation in a mode in which after the developer accommodating portion starts to be unsealed at the sealing member, the feeding screw is initially rotated for a predetermined period in a direction opposite to a normal direction in which the feeding screw is rotated during the image forming operation, and after elapse of the predetermined period, the feeding screw is rotated in the normal direction.
